I was expecting this package with my breath held - because Brian's artwork is really adorable and the Faerie Oracle is the most wonderful oracle deck I've ever dealed with (and I'm dealing with Tarot and other oracles for sixteen years).
And I was rather disapointed with the whole thing. No, Brian's artwork is still adorable and the faeries portraited on cards are really alive. But when I had a first look at the cards it was a scratching feeling that what is written on the cards doesn't belong to that creatures and some of the cards are not going with others. And then I began to read a book and it was a disaster. I've got three questions - does Wendy understand that she is walking in iron shoes over tender flowers? She doesn't hear faeries at all, she writes about her own human problems, what made her think that she can write the book about communicating with faeries? The second question is - did Brian ever read what Wendy wrote? Or he just said 'My beloved wife, write what you want, I trust you like myself'. Because if he read it I think he couldn't let the text to go with his cards. And the third question - what does Jessica Macbeth think about the book. Jessica who really is communicating with faeries and teaches that other people.
So my verdict - remove some of the cards from the deck and throw the book to dustbin, not read what is written on the cards and listen what those wonderful creatures want to tell you.
I think that the deck will work as an oracle even if you follow the book - but it's like using a steam-hammer to crack nuts.
