Book Description

1 Mar 2010
"The Heart of the Faerie Oracle" is a box set that focuses on ways to enhance your personal relationships by connecting with the Faerie World. The deck of 68 radiant oracle cards, illustrated by Brian Froud, and the accompanying 160 page book, provide detailed instructions for the believer to relate to the Faerie World and learn valuable relationship information. Created by the beloved team of Brian and Wendy Froud, readers have the opportunity to consult with the magical world of Faerie and gain valuable knowledge that can enhance their own intimate relationships. Using the deck of 68 oracle cards, believers conduct readings to interpret the cards and build a special connection with the faeries. The oracle cards feature Brian's recognizable faerie images, such as the enchanting Queen of Golden Bough and the mischievous Trickster. Wendy's text describes the emotional and practical nature of the cards and offers a variety of techniques for using the set, which can open the door into the Enchanted Realm as never before. Brian and Wendy Froud, working together for the first time ever, co-created the book and it is informed by their individual and collective experiences with Faerie for over thirty years, making this book a must-have for Faerie fans worldwide.

2.0 out of 5 stars Kinda disapoinment 29 April 2010
Format:Hardcover
I was expecting this package with my breath held - because Brian's artwork is really adorable and the Faerie Oracle is the most wonderful oracle deck I've ever dealed with (and I'm dealing with Tarot and other oracles for sixteen years).
And I was rather disapointed with the whole thing. No, Brian's artwork is still adorable and the faeries portraited on cards are really alive. But when I had a first look at the cards it was a scratching feeling that what is written on the cards doesn't belong to that creatures and some of the cards are not going with others. And then I began to read a book and it was a disaster. I've got three questions - does Wendy understand that she is walking in iron shoes over tender flowers? She doesn't hear faeries at all, she writes about her own human problems, what made her think that she can write the book about communicating with faeries? The second question is - did Brian ever read what Wendy wrote? Or he just said 'My beloved wife, write what you want, I trust you like myself'. Because if he read it I think he couldn't let the text to go with his cards. And the third question - what does Jessica Macbeth think about the book. Jessica who really is communicating with faeries and teaches that other people.
So my verdict - remove some of the cards from the deck and throw the book to dustbin, not read what is written on the cards and listen what those wonderful creatures want to tell you.
I think that the deck will work as an oracle even if you follow the book - but it's like using a steam-hammer to crack nuts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! 11 May 2010

I was unsure as to order this item based on the first 2 reviews, however, I went ahead and ordered. I am so pleased I did, the cards are beautiful and I felt a real connection to them straight away. The book is very informative on the individual cards and of course you can make what you will of each card anyway. Artwork gorgeous. I am fairly new to Oracle Cards but am really enjoying these and found them very informative.....I totally recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not traditional faerie images but... 31 Mar 2010
Format:Hardcover
Although at first the images appear strange in some of the cards, when I have used them for myself they have given a very accurate reading, and I own many sets of cards. The accompanying book gives a good discussion of the meanings of the cards. The only annoying thing is that there are 3 additional cards, which are not within the various categories, and for whom the authors do not give any discussion of their meaning. It is also fairly difficult for me to give them a meaning- but perhaps that would come through time working with them. I think that it would also be useful to have worked with oracle cards previously before working with these.
