5.0 out of 5 stars A better quality publication 17 Feb 2011
There are several books available for the Heart of England Way and, with the official book no longer available (until late 2011) I went for this version. Having completed the Way way I can recommend this publication 100%. It is well written and is an absolute must as the route would be difficult to complete with OS maps alone. (For example the route passes down a shop alleyway!! which you would never guess if you just used maps) Although slightly dated now the changes are easy to resolve where housing has appeared since publication date. The route goes from South to North which varies from the official route (North to South) but the signing by the association is so good this is not an issue. Very good additional reference paragraphs re history etc add to the quality of the publication.

3.0 out of 5 stars Heart of England Way - A local route to follow. 23 Dec 2009
I have lived close to the Heart of England Way now for some time, but only walked incidental "bits" of it.

In an attempt to cover all the route properly, I decided to buy this book, mainly due to the fact that it includes extracts of the Ordnance Survey Maps for the whole route.

Previously I have found books of this series to be very helpfull, but often in more obsecure areas of the country.

In quickly reviewing the parts of the route I have walked so far, it looks as though this will be quite successful, but giving me the chance to walk the route in manageable stages.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor and out of date 3 Mar 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase
The book was out of date and frequently wrong, very unclear descriptions of route and far too waffley. I got lost several times trying to follow the book which frequently contradicted the way markers. I was better off following the way markers most of the time.
I recommend no-one buys this book.
