Product Description

CD Description

La Toya Jackson has done it all, from television to books, from modeling to philanthropy. But her career didn t start there it started in music. This 1984 album, her first for Private-I Records, was her biggest musical success, with three chart singles and a wealth of talented performers on board. Boasting contributions from Kool & the Gang, siblings Janet and Marlon, Andy Summers of the Police and more, Heart Don t Lie is by far the best of La Toya s early output. Rolling Stone Magazine called the album admirable, while The Los Angeles Times called it her own hard-edged snap, crackle and pop.

I cannot praise Funkytown Grooves enough for this amazing release! The remastering is simply awesome, crisp clear sounds and all from the original master tapes. No dodgy vinyl rips here whatsoever! This is probably my fave album LaToya released and it's great to replace my crackly old vinyl copy. Nice booklet with a brief history of LaToya's music career along with the original album ... but then we get to the best part: The added bonus tracks. The 12" versions of all the single releases along with 2 Dub mixes and an instrumental, all been gloriusly remastered to perfection. The 12" versions of "Private Joy" and "Betcha Gonna Need My Lovin'" seem very difficult to get hold of, now I have them! Hooray!

No fan of LaToya should be without this CD!! Get it now before it goes out of print!! Now I'm just waiting for "Imagination" to enter my letterbox! :)

P.S... Will you guys at Funkytown Grooves be releasing her album "My Special Love" from 1981???

My Heart Doesn't Lie For This Album! 29 Dec 2006
By Tenchi Masaki - Published on Amazon.com
Heart Don't Lie was LaToya's third album. It is her most successful album to date, and the most critically acclaimed (together with her 1980 self-titled debut). The album features Howard Hewett on the title track and includes a cover version of Prince's "Private Joy", which LaToya does way better. LaToya and Amir Bayyan, the producer of the album, wrote the song together called "Reggae Nights", the song was going to be on the album but was instead cut from it. The song ended up being a Grammy-nominated single for Jimmy Cliff. She recorded the song herself for her 1991 album "No Relations". This album was released in the year of 1984.

La Toya Jackson at her best! 1 April 2007
By Robert Koehler - Published on Amazon.com
Perhaps her most memorable album, "Heart Don't Lie" is nothing short of a masterpiece for La Toya Jackson. Her most successful album to date, it gave La Toya the chance to shine at the high point of her career. Every track is extremely well produced, particularly the independent woman anthem "Hot Potato", which later inspired the Destiny's Child track "Independent Women, Part I". The title track is another highlight, featuring Howard Hewett of Shalamar fame, as well as the reggae boys group Musical Youth. The album also includes a cover of Prince's "Private Joy" and musical appearances by Kool & the Gang, Marlon Jackson, Janet Jackson, and Tito Jackson. This album is the definitive showcase of La Toya's unbelievable talent.

Finally! An amazing gem avaiable again on CD! 2 April 2012
By Devin Colton - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The last time this album was released on CD was in Japan, it was a limited release and included just the standard album, while this edition is expanded, nearly clocking in at 80 minutes, containing every remix taken from the 12" singles. This, as already stated is La Toya's finest and most successful album ever. The audio quality is amazing. And the liner notes are well-written. This is truly 80's pop at it's finest.
