Product Description

Released towards the end of 1977, Hear To Tempt You saw the quintet record for the first time in Philadelphia where the team of Norman Harris, Ron Baker and Earl Young masterminded the sessions, working with some of the top arrangers, songwriters and musicians (including future Temptation Ron Tyson) responsible for the then-ever-popular Philly sound. A US Top 40 R&B album, the LP spawned two charted singles, Think For Yourself and In A Lifetime. For their second and final album for Atlantic, The Temptations turned to two brothers who had also been part of the original Motown hit factory, Brian and Eddie Holland. A US Top 50 R&B album, Bare Back (with its revealing back cover art) contained eight tunes co-penned by the Hollands with members of the group contributing the song, I See My Child (co-written with Benjamin Wright, their musical director) Atlantic released three singles from the album, two of which the title track and Ever Ready Love reached the US Top 50 R&B charts.

I have always been a fan of The Temptations on Motown and never realised they left Motown for Atlantic in 1977 and made these 2 albums. The first one is very Philly influenced with the Producers of Blue Magic on board and the second with Brian and Eddie Holland after their running of the Invictus Label. I thoroughly recommend this album and I cannot understand why these albums were missed by Soul fans including myself.

Temptation Review 18 Oct 2014
By Nathaniel Baldwin - Published on Amazon.com
The best music ever! Rare hard to find until now and both CD's are combined! That's just perfection! Looking for the Temptations with Bass Singer Melvin Franklin singing "Try It Baby'! Just the Tempts no Supremes!!
