If you think Indian cooking is greasy like the takeaways, then try these healthy dishes by the award winning author and TV cook --The Mail on Sunday

Product Description

People often see Indian food as greasy, fatty and labour-intensive, but everyday Indian home cooking is neither unhealthy nor difficult to prepare. Monisha Bharadwaj will prove that it is in fact a highly nutritious, gentle cuisine that has always included natural and whole foods such as whole wheat flour, raw cane sugar, lots of vegetables, beans, lentils and any number of healing spices. Indian eating is based on the ancient science of Ayurveda, a system of holistic living that is the oldest form of medicine known to man. Broken down into straightforward chapters - curries, dry dishes, light one-pot meals, salads and raitas, chutneys and relishes, drinks and sweets - 'Healthy Indian in Minutes' will give readers the tips and strategies they need to cook healthy home-style food in a matter of minutes.

Quick and Tasty 26 Dec 2009
By Eric
Format:Paperback
I first saw some recipes from Monisha Bharadwaj in a Sunday supplement, they looked interesting and used a different way of cooking Indian food than my usual methods. So I bought the book and have now tried about five of the recipes. All have turned out absolutely lovely. Low on fat and healthy in other respects, nonetheless they are very tasty and quite quick to make. Not over spiced, but you can obviously add more hotness if that's what you want. If you like Indian food, but not the usual heavy sauces typically sold at takeaways try the recipes in this book. Thoroughly recommended.

This book is excellent, none of the recipes are over spicy, just very different, and the recipes are easy to follow. Highly recommended.

Love it 28 April 2010
Format:Paperback
What a great book this is. I have prepared many of the recipes and yes, they can be prepared rapidly. I have even knocked one up on the spur of the moment for lunch and usually my Indian food takes hours and hours to prepare. I have been introduced to new ingredients, like tamarinds and gram flour plus there are lots of vegetable recipes as well as meat ones. A well balanced book for all tastes and simple and rapid to prepare. My wife's only complaint is that the book is always lying around the kitchen.
