This book combines advice about diet and personal health care with recipe suggestions that can be enjoyed by the whole family and will inspire both those new to and those familiar with diabetic cooking. There are delicious savoury combinations, such as Risotto with Red Peppers, and Linguine with Smoked Salmon, and to prove that diabetes does not mean denial, half the recipes are delicious desserts and bakes that rely on the natural flavours of fruit, nuts and whole grains. Included in teh book are tempting desserts such as Baked Orange Cheesecake and Chocolate Brownies. With its practical information on food facts, lifestyle and health for diabetics and its useful addresses of specialist organizations, the diabetic cookbook is the essential kitchen companion and recipe source for all diabetics.

About the Author

Michelle Berriedale-Johnson has been involved in special diets since her son was diagnosed as diary intolerant. She originally trained as a food historian, then spent 10 years running a catering business that specialised in historic feasts, so the idea of creating delicious food out of uncompromising ingredients has long fascinated her. Since 1990 she has run her own special diet magazine, has written and broadcast widely and has been involved in developing dairy, gluten and sugar free foods. As a committee member and recently chair of the Guild of Food Writers she has promoted healthy eating while incorporating special diets into appealing menus that everyone can enjoy.

Diabetes can be fun 1 Dec 2009
Format:Paperback
As a type 2 diabetic, I'm always seeking new and different ideas to make food more interesting.

This book, although large in format, small in volume, and an excellent price, is a book not to be missed.

I have many books on the subject, and this one is more informative from the diet point of view, and answers many more queries than other books I have.

There are some more adventurous recipes, different and interesting, which answer the often quoted phrases, 'I don't know what to eat', or, 'there's nothing I can eat'. So often heard from the lips of a similar sufferer.

This book will get you going, and ready to shout 'I love what I eat', being a diabetic is no problem!

Sheila. Axminster.

Diabetic cooking 23 Aug 2010
Format:Paperback
My mother was recently diagnosed with diabetes which is diet controlled. She was struggling to cook appropriate meals, which was the reason for me making this purchase. She has found the book really useful in guiding her when cooking food for herself, and when eating out.

Originally bought for my boyfriends uncle, who has type 2 diabetes, but the recipes looked that good we decided to keep the book ourselves. Has a lot of good deserts, including a few chocolate ones that are enjoyable for everyone.
