Product Description

Review

Hot springs are a global phenomenon but until now there has been no account of the global nature of hot spring tourism. This book fulfills the need for a comprehensive account of the significance and nature of hot spring tourism and how hot springs impact on the global spa and wellness industry. Professor Marc Cohen, RMIT University, Australia

Product Description

The use of natural geothermal springs in the treatment of illness and the promotion of wellness (thermalism, balneology) forms the foundation for a discussion of the development and growth of health and wellness tourism in this book. A range of perspectives are explored, including usage, heritage, management, technology, environmental and cultural features, and marketing.

Not that exciting 23 April 2010
By Maria K. Todd - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Like a giant book high school report on yesterdays' news. I was hoping for more leading edge insight.

If you want a shortcut of links and references to lots of well known resources in the industry, then the book will save you time which has a value of its own.

May be over the head of many medical tourism facilitators. Probably a good resource for investors and angels evaluating a business plan to function in this space. Not a book for the consumer unless you are a water therapies/ spa addict and are looking for a checklist for practically every spa in the world. Then this is your checklist!
