Product Description

Review

Healing the Incest Wound is now the most comprehensive text available on every aspect of incest and child sexual abuse. Courtois reviews and integrates clinical, theoretical, and research sources and survivors' accounts. A significant new contribution to understanding and treatment, it will be an invaluable resource for clinicians and researchers whose work focuses on incest survivors. This book is a must for therapists new to working with incest survivors and a welcome update to the literature. --Laurie Ann Pearlman, PhD, co-author, Risking Connection

Product Description

Almost twenty years after the publication of the first edition, our knowledge of how to effectively treat incest victims has grown tremendously. Drawing on the latest research, Christine Courtois presents a fully updated treatment manual for therapists.

excellent resource 24 May 2010

I have found this book to be an excellent resource. Clients have also found it useful to know they are not alone in the after-effects of incestuous relationships

No better book at present 6 Dec 2011
By E. Barker - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I use this as a primary text in my Graduate level "Counseling victims of sexual trauma" class. It is not an easy read, especially for those who have gone through these issues. It is also a scholarly text, well researched and well written. If you are a survivor of incest, there are easier and possibly more appropriate books to read. If you are looking to understand the nature of the trauma and symptoms as well as some treatment methodologies, then this is the place to start. Dr. Courtois is a leader in the field, and this text reinforces that.
