Product Description

Since 1991, Dr. Lee Jampolsky's self-help classic Healing the Addictive Mind has given well over 100,000 people around the world the tools to create significant change in their lives. Now he continues his proven and trustworthy blend of practical and positive psychology with HEALING THE ADDICTIVE PERSONALITY. Dr. Jampolsky's straightforward approach, based on firsthand experience, presents ways of healing addictive thinking, behavior, and destructive relationship patterns with forgiveness, compassion, and the potential for limitless opportunity through an eleven-week action plan.A personal note from the author: “Many people live in a self-imposed prison and don't even know it. I did. For years I was so busy building walls I did not see that I was imprisoning myself behind them. My addictive thinking and behavior became the bars of my cell. I denied feeling empty inside and instead looked for new things to acquire, substances to take, and goals to achieve in order to feel better about myself. Sometimes I felt momentarily free, powerful, and whole, but in the end my addictive cycle only compounded my loneliness and despair. If you recognize this pattern in yourself, this book is addressed to you. Today, I am able to tell you I now know what true freedom and happiness are and I offer the path that I intend to follow every day of my life.”Reviews:"This 178 page book is a miraculous Godsend because it goes deep to expose the profile of the addictive personality, and then broadens from there to show us how to recognize the characteristics of the addictive personality and understand why it develops in the first place. The layout of this awesome teacher helped me to see how I can go from a place of addictive thinking to having a truth-based personality.I liked how the negative core beliefs were laid bare, and the healthy counterparts were readily available because many times there is denial associated with addiction and it helped me see the true man behind the curtain and not just the illusions I have been living with. The cunning foe of addiction has become such a part of our society that I would recommend this crucial and charming champion to anyone at any stage of their spiritual growth and development. This precious gem will help many on the path to serenity and it has found it's way to my spiritual toolbox. Thanks, Dr. Lee for this most excellent way out.—Riki Frahmann

Once in a while you read a life changing book and this for me is one of them. Really well written by someone with knowledge about life.

Don't let the title fool you into thinking that its for addicts but I think it really appeals to the mass market and one of the best personal development books I've read for a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book! 18 Jan 2008

When we think of the word addictive, we think of drugs, alchohol... In this book the Author discusses addictive personality traits that surface as we go about our day. Many of us don't realize the addictions we carry around with us. This book is amazing! I think that anyone who wants to hold healthy conversations with their loved ones on a regular basis and implement a true sense of happiness into their daily activities and events must run out and grab this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Healing from the inside 3 Sep 2009
By Mary J. Villarrubia - Published on
After spending thousands for therapy and self-help books, this book was transformative. I've always known that I was causing my own pain, but didn't know how to stop it. This book identified my behaviors and gave me the solution. I followed its instructions and my life has been amazing. When you learn to stop and question the hurtful thoughts, you can stop the hurtful behavior.

Excellent for any compulsive or self-sabotaging people. Life is what you create, now I choose to create a peaceful loving life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved my life.... 5 Jan 2012

If there is one book that can change you life, this is it. In fact, I identified with the writer and his experiences immediately and it was almost instantaneous that changes began to take place. I was at peace before I was half way through it. I suffered from alcohol addiction, low self esteem and just felt like damaged goods, within days I did a complete 180. No rehab, no therapy. I know it sounds too good to be true, but this is my truth. I even bought it for my father. Another reviewer of this book mentioned sobbing at times while reading and I did the same. Tears of joy and tears of past pain I had been holding on to. I'm not sure where I'd be if I hadn't stumbled upon this book while looking for rehab sources. If I ever get a chance to meet Lee, I would hug him for days....

Lee's book is an extremely helpful account of not only what an addictive personality is, but also an honest look at addiction from his own personal experience. This will be helpful to everyone,as we are all addicted to something.I hope that it will be made available to rehabilitation services and recovery centres everywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Jampolsky connects with his readers 6 Jun 2009
By H. Heuser - Published on

Dr. Jampolsky's ability to share his thoughts and feelings is very effective. I found myself feeling strong compassion for the author who is sharing his own journey with the reader. He presents the information with complete honesty and understanding of how hard it is for people to overcome addiction. He also provides some "how to" advice that I found useful.

This book is not just for people who have addictive personalities either; it is certainly very useful for people who live with or love others with addictive personalities. It is also useful to gain a general understanding of where so many people are actually coming from. I have found it very helpful in my own work with others.
