This is an excellent album of up tempo blues/rock. Dani Wilde plays an exceptional guitar, and could probably give Clapton a run for his money. Her voice is particularly suited to the genre, with a slightly husky soulful delivery that really does justice to the songs.
It is hard to believe that this is a debut album. Wilde has a maturity and confidence in her performances that one would expect from a much more seasoned artist. This is an album of mainly original material penned by Wilde, with a few covers of classics thrown in. Such is her confidence that the covers are towards the end of the album, not at the beginning as some would do to draw in the listener with a few comfortable well known songs. And such is the maturity of her writing and performing that this doesn't matter, the classics fit right in with her own material.
I was particularly impressed with her reworking of John Lee Hooker's `In The Mood' - close enough to the original not to offend die hard fans, but different enough to be interesting. Her recording is very distinctive and still really excellent.
A great album of rock/blues from a talented artist who has a real feel for the genre. Highly recommended.
