Product Description

CD Description

First full length album from a fast rising star on the British blues scene. Born and raised in Wiltshire, Dani grew up listening to her father's collection of blues and soul records and started playing acoustic guitar at an early age. Latterly she turned to electric guitar, inspired by Buddy Guy. She got her first break in her teens accompanying British folk legend Maddie Prior before settling in Brighton in 2003 to take a three year music degree at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music. While there she began to make an increasingly strong impact in local music venues and then further afield. In 2007 Dani toured the UK extensively with her own band. In January 2008 she has been touring continental Europe as one of the three stars of this year's Blues Caravan (the others being Candye Kane and Deborah Coleman) before returning to the UK for another extensive blitz of dates around the country, 33 already confirmed, many more to be added. "Dani Wilde's voice is astounding, with a unique raw passion and energy. I truly believe one cannot consider themselves to be a true blues fan until they add Dani Wilde to their collection. She sings with more conviction and passion than old legends from the Mississippi Delta." - Paul Jones (BBC Radio 2) "In 33 years in the music business I have never heard a British female singer of such brilliant raw talent." - Kevin Nixon (Virgin V2 A&R Director/Manager of Kula Shaker). Dani Wilde (vocals, guitars), Will Wilde (harmonica), Morg Morgan (keyboards), Mike Griot (bass), Denis Palatin (drums). Special guest: Ian Parker (guitar) on "Bring Your Loving Home", "Come Undone", "I Want Your Loving". All songs by Dani Wilde except "In The Mood" (by John Lee Hooker), "I'm Going Down" (Norman Whitfield), "Little By Little" (Mel London & Junior Wells). Tracks: Bring Your Loving Home / Heal My Blues / Come Undone / I Love You More Than I Hate Myself / I Want Your Loving / Testify / In The Mood / I'm Going Down / Slow Coach / Little By Little / People Like You.

Product Description

(2007 'Ruf Records') (39:26/11) Die neuste Entdeckung Gitarre spielender Mädchen.

Wilde about Dani 5 Jan 2009
Format:Audio CD
Credit is due to Thomas Ruf. His RUF Record label in Germany has been quick to spot the current rise of top young British Blues acts that also includes Oli Brown and Joanne Shaw Taylor.
Brighton based Dani Wilde was a popular part of the 2008 Blues Caravan Tour that rode around Europe to great (and deserved) acclaim with Deborah Coleman and Candye Kane.

`Heal My Blues' showcases Dani's talents admirably - in particular capturing her tremendous enthusiasm for playing. This girl is no Ana Popovic on guitar but she does have a way with lyrics and most of all a great set of tonsils - put to stunning effect on "I'm Going Down". This would be a showstopper even sans backing musicians. "Bring Your Loving Home, "Heal My Blues" and "Testify" all really do `Testify' to Dani's enthusiasm and brother Will on Harmonica helps them all rock along to good effect.

The CD just misses out on 5 stars because it is something of an unpolished diamond - rather rough around edges that rely a little too heavily on tried and trusted rhythms and licks. Since this CD came out though Dani has learned a lot I'm sure from the likes of Candye, Deborah and top backing musicians like Denis Palatin and Laura Chavez. I prescribe "Heal My Blues" for anyone wanting good, rocking, blues from the heart and also recommend putting a note in your diary for Dani's follow up - it should be an absolute blinder!

I saw Dani & her band live on Friday 15th May 09 with completely fresh eyes and ears. If i wasn't aware of her & the band before I certainly am well aware now. I'm an old blues & heavy rock fan so i feel I can speak when I say her voice reminds me of Janice Joplin.
Yes I got the Album'HEAL MY BLUES'and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. it is also wonderful to see these young people keeping this genre of music going, the band was a lot younger than most of their audience, usually the other way round these days.
If I was a betting man this is one band I would put my shirt on for future success, wake up British music press and enjoy the refreshment!

This is an excellent album of up tempo blues/rock. Dani Wilde plays an exceptional guitar, and could probably give Clapton a run for his money. Her voice is particularly suited to the genre, with a slightly husky soulful delivery that really does justice to the songs.

It is hard to believe that this is a debut album. Wilde has a maturity and confidence in her performances that one would expect from a much more seasoned artist. This is an album of mainly original material penned by Wilde, with a few covers of classics thrown in. Such is her confidence that the covers are towards the end of the album, not at the beginning as some would do to draw in the listener with a few comfortable well known songs. And such is the maturity of her writing and performing that this doesn't matter, the classics fit right in with her own material.

I was particularly impressed with her reworking of John Lee Hooker's `In The Mood' - close enough to the original not to offend die hard fans, but different enough to be interesting. Her recording is very distinctive and still really excellent.

A great album of rock/blues from a talented artist who has a real feel for the genre. Highly recommended.
