Product Description

Product Description

For courses in Fashion Design, Fashion Illustrations, and Figure Drawing.

This new detailed guide to learning the skills and techniques of drawing modern fashion and the figure is also a rich reference source for a broad range of modern garments and accessories. Extensively illustrated, this introduction teaches, by example, the power of drawing as a means of communication and expression. Its new approach to figure and fashion drawing teaches the principles of how to represent the structure which underlies all good drawing. Just like a building, a drawing has to have a sound underlying structure in order to work. This method achieves remarkable results for students of fashion and sketching. The first section is dedicated to drawing the human figure, while the second portion deals with how to draw a wide range of modern garments and accessories and the types of techniques used to render them convincingly and elegantly in different fabric designs and textures.

This has got to be one of the most informative books on fashion illustration. The book offers a step by step guide to the world of illustration complete with full colour pictures and well written text. The text is broken up with pictures, so you will never get bored reading this book over and over again. It was worth every penny.

A Future Fashion Designer Must Have 5 Nov 2002
By D. M. - Published on Amazon.com
I am a high school student currently taking Fashion Designing Classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, which is where I want to go to college. My professor told me about 9 Heads and after working with it for about 5 months now, she noticed dramatic (good) changes in my drawing. I strongly suggest this book for anyone who is considering fashion designing because it has everything and beyond in it- figures, collars, necklines, skirts, pants, sleeves, faces- EVERYTHING!

great fashion illustration book 7 Nov 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
9 heads starts as a very professional teaching book with all the details needed for a design student who wants to learn more about fashion illustration. towards the end of the beautiful designed book itself comes the big plus: the examples of some of the finest and famous fashion designers worldwide, like the great christian lacroix or the new star bernhard willhelm. both represented with their fashion and their truly originally illustrations. the book is a great guide to get as good as them. not only is every way you can draw/see an eye, a hand, the body, the draping of the material, the light on clothes and many more important and helpful details presented - there are also fascinating interviews to be found.

Best Fashion Book I Own 20 Aug 2003
By Joseph - Published on Amazon.com
I am a fashion student at Parsons, and this book is the exact equivilant of two years of training. My drawings improved beyond belief even after just a few days of studying this bible. The drawings are informative and have a style and flair that only the best illustrators posess. Impressive -- A must have for any fashion student!!
