My wife suffered a head injury and almost instantly i was on the web looking at various sites and different resources, some easier to understand than others. I was put intouch with the "headway" group who sent me more information regarding her condition, this book is their bible.
It not only contains information i have already resourced but filled many gaps in between. It also contains information that you will not necessarliry get from the doctors. It is my opinion that there should be a copy of this book in every intensive care unit across the country as it is invaluable. For anyone who has suffered a head injury or is a relative/carer this book will provide you information you will only otherwise find out through trial and error. Even if you only keep this book for a while you will agree that it's the book that will allow you to keep your nerves whilst all others are loosing theirs! Good luck.

Hope at last! 6 July 2005
By A Customer
This book was recommended to me by a phycologist following a severe brain injury suffered by my husband. The book gives many examples of the kind of dificulties people can have following a brain injury and reading it certainly helped me gain a better understanding of the problems.

Trevor Powell acknowledges that there is often little help available via the N.H.S and this was certainly my experiance. Many of my husbands problems had been put down to depression and he was given (inappropriate)counselling to try to cure him. This just increased the frustration.

Having read the book I now understand that his lack of memory, short temper and extreme tiredness are due to the head injury. If only we had had help earlier!

The book is written in plain english and is very easy to read.It explains the medical jargon used around head injury.

I recommend this book to anyone who has suffered a brain injury or is involved with someone who has,it is money well spent!

After searching for help with a moderately serious head injury, an aquaintance who had been advised to buy this book for herself, recomended it to me.
It is well written and informative and very importantly for someone with a head injury it is laid out well and easy to use. The book explains some of the common symptoms and frustrations I experienced and offers practical advice for me and also my partner who has had to deal with, in some situations, a complete stranger.
Does what it says on the tin. If you have suffered a head injury or know someone who has this book is a must. The reason that it has only 4 stars and not 5 from me is the cost. Its worth it, but when you are not working as a result of such an injury, its a lot of money to find.
