Review

"Acid and brilliant... a new race of thriller" MARIE-FRANCOISE LECLERE, Point "A passionate, magnificently written novel which begins in an almost playful tone only to end in tragedy... this staggering tragedy of our time" Dauphine Libere "If this thriller is a success, it is because we know that the universe described isn't simply a pure fiction. It all happens today" Upstreet

Product Description

"Your career profile could be of interest to us. Would you please get in touch?" Jerome Carceville finds it impossible to resist such an e-mail, especially when the invitation comes from De Wavre International, one of the top head-hunting organizations in the world. He applies, and after undergoing a variety of searching interviews and high-level tests, he is eventually selected for a decisive final examination. The fifteen talented and driven finalists arrive at a hotel on an island in the middle of an Alpine lake. Only two of them have any realistic chance of the job, and when Del Rieco, the "games-master", informs them that the nature of the contest is simulated economic warfare, that their only weapons will be a computer and some strategic information, and that their competitors must be eliminated, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary recruitment drive...Frenetic, ingenious and totally up-to-the-minute, Michel Crespy has written the first thriller to prize open the competitive jungle of the corporate world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good - psychology more than action, 7 May 2008

It brought me back to my MBA course and all the simulation games we played. But we were too young to become that paranoic, as the characters in this book.

There is a lot of psychology, strategy and internal monologues of the hero of the book. Very insightful and brilliantly written.

My opinion: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

(especially to those who MBA)

3.0 out of 5 stars little bit slow, 20 Aug 2006

This review is from: Head Hunters (Panther) (Paperback)
The title of this book caught my eye and even reading the first page lead me to believe there would be a lot more action than there actually was. Most of the book was about 3 teams trying to run imaginary businesses to try and impress a recruitment agency and trying to out do the other teams.

Things only started to get more interesting right at the end of the book and then the book suddenly seamed to be over too quickly after it taking an eternity to get anywhere.

Having said the above it was still quite good just not what I was expecting or hoping.
