Product Description

Synopsis

The author updates his classic exploration of the meaning of being a man, and adds insights for both sexes into the feminine side of a man's personality.

From the Back Cover

What does it really mean to be a man? What are some of the landmarks along the road to mature masculinity? And what of the feminine components of a man's personality? Robert A. Johnson explores these questions in this new edition of 'He', updated to reflect his thinking on these subjects.

Robert A. Johnson is a noted lecturer and Jungian analyst in private practice in San Diego, California. He is the author of 'She: Understanding Feminine Psychology' and 'We: Understanding the Psychology of Romantic Love'. He has studied at the Jung Institute in Switzerland and at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in India.

"Women do not really know as much about men as they think they do. They have developed, over the centuries, considerable expertise in the technique of adapting to men, but that is not the same as truly understanding them. Women often labour under the delusion that life is really pretty easy for men, at least when compared to their own lots, and they have no idea what a complicated struggle is really involved in the transition from male childhood to real manhood

I recommend this book highly. It is entertaining, informative, thought-provoking, mysterious, poetic. Men who read it will surely learn much about themselves, and women- particularly those who are unfortunately misled into thinking of men as 'the enemy'- will find it a real eye-opener"
RUTH TIFFANY BARNHOUSE, M.D., Th.M., Harvard University

Format:Paperback
Robert Johnson writes simply and elegantly about the human condition. This book is a must for men and women to help understand our wounds and how these are windows or experinces that can lead us to a richer life. Partcularly useful are the 6 feminine elements in a man (and indeed women too). He gives practical examples of how we live out the cross contaminated aspects of the inner feminine. The Grail story is a supportive and cathartic story for anyone who has embarked upon a journey and is looking for means to map the landscape they find themselves in.

Initiatory Journey 11 April 2009
Format:Paperback
An account of Masculine Psychology that addresses its potential richness and connexion to suffering, as well as the spiritual dimension, in ways that strongly enrich the imagination. Its contemporary relevance, moreover, is elicited through an interpretation of the story of Parsifal's lifelong quest for the Grail that discloses the narrative's full potency; and this is contrasted with the naïve - and ultimately self-defeating - modern proposition: the belief in the 'quick fix' ideology. Essential reading!

HE Understanding Men 1 April 2003
Format:Paperback
A very interesting journey through male psychology using the story of Parsifal and the Grail (inlcuding Arthur) as a springboard. Very interesting, some excellent perspectives on the journey of the male. Good reading whether you are a "He" or a "She."
Thoughts about the inner femininity of men and their search to understand and encompass meaning in their lives. If you have an adolescent son, very much worth reading!
