I bought this "build your own" for my 12 year old son. He thoroughly enjoyed constructing it. It appears to require a some skill but the instructions are good. He thought it was brilliant especially as it does actually work when it is finished. Would recommend it for any older child who enjoys building and constructing.

Haynes Combustion Engine

This was fabulous. My seven year old son and I built it together. It took us a couple of afternoons and it was tricky but great fun. As I'm a bit of a technophobe, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to do it, so we got the best buzz of achievement when we finished it and it worked! and both of us understand engines much better now too!
