Product Description

Product Description

During the Battle of Britain, the RAF's Hawker Hurricane fighter won lasting fame alongside the Supermarine Spitfire. Over 11,700 examples were eventually built of this versatile and deadly combat aircraft that fulfilled an incredible number of contrasting roles. This innovative manual provides a close-up look at the Hurricane's construction together with insights into what it takes to own and fly this classic fighter and how engineers keep it airworthy, as well as the historical background of the aircraft's illustrious Second World War combat history. The RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's two Hurricane IIc models are the centrepiece of this manual.

Bought this for my Dad, as he has enjoyed all the other titles in the series. Once again a great insight into the world of the aircraft; its history and also the day to day running, maintaining and servicing of the Hurricane. Would recommend this to any historic aviation enthusiast who would appreciate this insight. Well done, look forward to the DC-3 one.

Excellent book! 21 Mar 2011
Format:Hardcover
Very good publication. Good quality paper with excellent pictures. This describes the history of the Hurricane and gives you some idea of the work and costs involved in running a War Bird. The material is also very good if you need information when modelling the Hurricane. If you purchase this book expecting it to be a "Haynes manual" for repairing the A/C, think again! I think the people who are privileged to own a piece of aviation history like the Hurricane may already know how to do this and who to send it to for maintenance!

Format:Hardcover
This was a present for my 30 year old son, who is fascinated by old aircraft. The book is informative, interesting and great fun. There is a section at the front covering the general history of the hurricane, leading on to the "nuts and bolts" part, amazing diagrams and detailed instructions for restoration, etc.,if you should be lucky enough to own one! This is a great general interest book for anyone who wants to find out about the aircraft or is interested in the engineering side of things.
