After hearing Blue in Blue in a record store in London, I subsequently found out it was Classic FM 'CD of the Week' so I bought a copy.
It is absolutely fantastic! I have a daily 2 hour commute and this album has provided the santuary I have been looking for to escape the madness!
All the tracks are incredibly moving, but I especially recommend listening to Quanta Qualia and Pavane (from the film The Incredible Mrs Ritchie). All of my friends have bought a copy after hearing mine and they too find it wonderfully uplifting.
I highly recommend it!

Blue in Blue is a heavenly recording that makes my time at work far more pleasurable. Quanta Qualia has become a wonderful calming influence in times of stress. This disc is invaluable to anyone, whether you're a follower of contemporary classical music or simply looking for a bit of relaxing listening.

This is an exquisite collection of Patrick Hawes' music which is beautifully directed, performed and recorded. Many congratulations to all concerned but particularly the composer. This music is new to our ears and yet it feels so comfortable it is as though we have known it all our lives. I can't stop playing it and I thoroughly recommend it.

Format: Audio CD
I was first introduced to this CD by a friend at uni, and it is now my 'most-listened-to' CD. With the way a lot of contemporary music is moving, it is so refreshing to hear music that is so beautifully tonal, and which creates a calming atmosphere as soon as it is put on. From the opening calls of the soprano in Quanta Qualia, to the closing moments of the last Bluebird variation, the composer's colourful orchestration leaves the listener in awe. One is so relaxed as to be almost in a dream world, with the sense of the might and majesty of nature, which one feels is expressed by the spaciousness in Hawes' textures and harmonies.
The orchestra and singers do a fine job conveying the power of this music to the listener, and the soprano soloist (Quanta Qualia and the Bluebird) and tenor soloist (O Waly Waly) really are the icing and cherry on the cake to what will hopefully become a modern classic, and a CD that every classical music fan should own.
