After managing to escape Malice, an evil comic book run by Tall Jake, Seth has finally started to remember what happened. With a shard in his possession that is rumored to have the ability to bring down Tall Jake, the fight becomes a matter of life and death for not only himself, but anyone who comes in contact with him.

Can Seth find a way back without Tall Jake destroying everything he holds dear?

Seth's friend, Katie, is still stuck in Malice. After hooking up with Havoc, the rebellion trying to overthrow Tall Jake, Katie discovers she was the founder. When information reaches her regarding a Queen of Cats who might be able to help stop Tall Jake, she and a few friends set out to find the queen. With no memory of being in Malice before and the new leader trying to discredit Katie in any way possible, things have just gotten a lot more dangerous - and the friends may never reach their goal.

Can Katie keep herself and Havoc safe while still overthrowing Tall Jake? Will she find the Queen of Cats?

An interesting book filled with danger, havoc, and a mystery to solve. The characters are well-developed. The plot is intense and holds the reader's interest. Those who like fantasy, books by Orson Scott Card, mystery, horror, and adventure will all enjoy reading HAVOC after they've read MALICE.

It is always difficult to review a follow up to an original story - I had not realised this was a sequel to an earlier book 'Malice' when I asked for it to be sent - as much of the content refers back to the first adventure.

With this in mind, I have allowed an extra star on the assumption that those who have read and enjoyed the first book will find this more involving than I. For me it was really a two star experience.

Aimed, I would suppose, at early teen male readers, this book-cum-graphic novel reminds me a little of 'The Page Master' or 'The Never Ending Story' in that the story involves young protagonists being sucked into a story. In this book the unique spin is that the story was in comic format.

This makes for the fairly intersting mix of prose and graphic novel. A good ruse to get reluctant book readers interested I would think.

So why would I only grant three stars - two if new to the plot? Well, the first issue is with the 'comic book' sections. The artwork is simply dire. It looks hurried to be honest. Secondly, the overall plot failed to engross. I experienced de ja vu throughout as it was clearly indebted to a number of superior stories that had preceeded it.

On more positive notes, it certainly had a few promising characters. Not least the villain. But overall I was left underwhelmed.
