this test kit is crucial if you want the best plants in your growing area.
weather flowers or veg,your soil needs to be in top form, you just cant tell by looking, or banging on a load of n.p.k.all perpose fertilizer, which may do more harm than good.
this kit will tell you what you need to do to your soil to get perfect results.
roots, leaf, flowers..
the printed guide is ace,with the p.h recomended scale for loads of plants,very helpful.
the tests are easy, though the filter papers can be a bit fiddly. also there are only two
test tubes,four would be better.
my only big moan is that the test tubes are square and made of plastic, which means cleaning is a pain because the earth is more difficult to get out of the bottom corners,and the nature of the tests causes the plastic ta scratch. thats y i gave it only four stars.
all told, a very good kit for the price,. buy it test it solve it,and have a healthy garden. xxx

The soil test kit is not bad at all. It's nice and compact in it's little box and there is enough of each chemical to do about 10 tests. The plastic auger is great too, even in fairly compacted soil (I was kind of expecting it to snap in half straightaway). The accompanying leaflet explains the steps very clearly and they are easy to follow. The tests return basic results which tell you if your soil is depleted or rich in nutrients - sufficient for most gardeners I would think, although if you want exact ion concentrations then this is not the kit for you. Only minus point is the number of test tubes (they are square rather than round, but as long as you rinse them before everything dries out they are easy to clean as I found) - for a kit that enables to do 4 different tests it would be nice to have at least 4 test tubes as it takes by far the longest to dry out the tubes after each test.
