Product Description

Product Description

In this follow-up to "Whoever Fights Monsters", a former FBI senior investigator takes us further into the subject of law enforcement's fight against serial killers. He claims to have "lived in the monster" enough to understand the killers who prey upon modern society and to convey to us the mind of the murderer. The largest part of this book examines in depth the cases in which Ressler has been involved since he retired from the FBI, a period in which he has been consulted by police departments and psychologists all over the world with difficult and mysterious murders, including, in Britain, the Rachel Nickell case. Ressler also takes another look at cases from around the world, analyzes them, and offers his insights. Finally, he analyzes many fictional attempts to depict serial killers, including those in "American Psycho" and "Natural Born Killers".

Be warned: once you pick up this book you will not put it down! In this title, Ressler includes interviews with serial killers John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer, the best and last insights into the minds of mass murderers. He also sites his views on the infamous Jack the Ripper murders of 1888 and talks of his involvement in the Wimbledon Common and Coleherne Pub murders of the 1990s. If you only read one book on criminal profiling, make it one of Ressler's. His fluid style and amiable writing will keep you involved right until the last page. A masterpiece.

Worthwhile read, but not just for Robert Resslers insight. You get a clear understanding of profiling but surprisingly it's plain old detection that resolves most of the cases. Price wise, it's worth the purchase.
