Product Description

Product Description

When they give birth many women hope to manage without drugs and to have intervention only if there is a complication; but what they get often depends more on the protocols of the hospital than the progress of their individual labour. Having the birth you want is not simply a matter of luck. It depends as much on choices and preparations beforehand as on your individual labour. Gill Thorn helps women make confident decisions and follow them through to have the birth to suit them and not the medical establishment. This is a revolutionary as well as a highly practical book.

About the Author

Gill Thorn has three children and has taught expectant parents about birth for almost thirty years. She has held research posts at Manchester and Nottingham Universities and was a teacher for the UK's foremost birth organisation, the National Childbirth Trust for ten years. She contributes to Practical Parenting magazine and in 1997 was nominated for th Periodical Publishers Association's Specialist Writer of the Year. She is the author of Pregnancy and Birth (Hamlyn) and Not Too Late; Having a Baby After 35 (Bantam)
