Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

With WinTV-PVR-USB2, you can Watch, Record and Pause live TV on your PC or laptop, in a window or full screen. Record your favorite TV shows to your hard disk, or pause live TV and create your own instant replay! You can also record your home videos to disk, then burn them onto CD or DVD! We include Ulead DVD MovieFactory to author and burn DVDs, VCDs and S-VCDs. Create professional quality DVDs from your home movies or TV shows right on your PC!

The WinTV-PVR-USB2 uses a hardware MPEG-1 / MPEG-2 encoder, so you don't slow down your PC while recording. With MPEG data rates from 1 to 12Mbits/sec, you decide how much hard disk space your videos will consume (the lower the data rates, the less disk space your videos will consume, but with lower video quality).

WinTV-PVR-USB2 is easy to install. Just plug it into your PC or laptops USB 1.1 or 2.0 port, connect to any kind of TV reception (cable, antenna, etc.) or a VCR or camcorder, load the software from our installation CD. Then start watching TV and recording your TV or videos!

WinTV-PVR-USB2 includes WinTV-Scheduler, WinTV-Editor plus Ulead's DVD MovieFactory. Trim your videos, cut out segments, put them back together, all without losing any video quality with our WinTV-Editor! With WinTV-Scheduler, you can control your TV recording on a daily, weekly or random schedule. Automatically record TV programs so you'll never miss your TV shows again!

WinTV-PVR-USB2's pause feature gives you control of what you watch in your WinTV window. Get personal "instant replay": stop the action when you want to analyze a key scene, and instantly rewind and replay the action again. You're in control with WinTV-PVR!

Record your TV programs or home videos and play them on your PC or DVD player! If you have a DVD burner in your PC, use the WinTV-PVR's MPEG files with the included MovieFactory" to author your own home DVD's. You can also record your home videotapes with WinTV-PVR, and then burn them onto DVD.

Great Piece of Kit 1 April 2005
What a great product, I have been looking for a free to air TV tuner for some time that will work on Notebooks - i have a laptop and use this when i am working from home in my study. It was really easy to install, it scanned and found the Free View channels very quickly. The picture quality from my normal aerial was very good and the remote is nice and easy to use. I would recommend this product.

Windows XP.Dell/Pentium 4.
This Win TV Nova has been the best 69 Pound I've spent in years. It was easy to set up,even for me.The picture quality is fab.Recorded TV when played back is just has clear has live TV.A simple solution to view and record TV and watch on your computer monitor.Compact size 150x100x30mm.I had seen bad reviews of so many of these TV cards/USBs but I can say this one works well, even with a loft airial (ordinary) not digital, but I do live in a good reception area. The only down side,I have recorded TV onto DVD and these discs play back on my computer drive no trouble, but my DVD player downstairs for where I intended to play them is -R/RW only and it will not read these Mpeg files. This is obviously no fault of the Win TV. I need a compatable DVD player.I would recommend this product anyday. I hope this review was helpful.

Nova-T USB2 15 Oct 2005
There are both extreamly good and bad points about this product.
Good: 1. The picture quality is superb as is the recording quality. it looks equal if not better than a dvd.
2. It is quick and easy to set up all you need to do is plug in the ariel and then the box into the computer useing the USB cable.
3. It has a remote control giving it the feel of a real T.V.

However:
1. The recorded files are all in MPEG 2 so are about 2 GB per hour. You can't keep many on your computer at once unless you have over 160GB HD. I also so far havn't found a way to record directly onto a dvd.
2. The software is rubbish and it takes forever to change from one channel to another. I don't know if other software will work with the product.
3. And finally i have had the dreaded blue screen twice so far and i have only had it for a week.

My advice is if you ahve a huge hard disk and a powerful computer this is for you. Otherwise stay clear.
