About the Author

BJ Sheldon grew up a farmer’s daughter outside of Hull, Iowa, the setting of her YA paranormal romance, Haunting. She graduated from the University of Phoenix with a bachelor’s degree in Project Management. After losing her job in 2009, she rediscovered her love of writing and hasn’t looked back since. These days, she spends the majority of her time writing, reading, working on furniture DIY projects and playing with her cats while listening to classical music. She now lives in southern New Jersey with her husband, an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran, and her three daughters.

I liked this story a lot. The characters were well drawn, and the plot held my attention. There were some well-written dream sequences which worked to further the story and add a greater depth. I don't tend to read YA books, but the paranormal element of this story really appealed to me.

"Haunting" is an excellent read! 30 April 2013

I don't usually read young adult fiction, but a friend suggested that I take a look at "Haunting." This well-written book is not just for young adults, but for all readers. Yes, the protagonist, Dusty Vermeer, is a teenager, but then so is Holden Caulfield in "Catcher in the Rye." "Haunting" falls under multiple genres, including romance, mystery, fantasy, war, crime and thriller, in an entirely believable way. I could not put it down.

~Haunting~ is a haunting hit! 1 May 2013
By Michael Phillips Mann - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
BJ Sheldon's ~Haunting~ is a spectacular debut novel. The author creates a world populated with delightful, believable characters engaged in real-world struggles, even if one of those characters does happen to be dead! I loved the protagonist, Dusty Vermeer. When work forced me to set ~Haunting~ aside for a couple of days, I found my thoughts constantly returning to Dusty, wondering what would become of her ghostly romance, and worrying about how she would manage the looming threat in her life. I had to know how this story turned out. Ms. Sheldon uses masterful pacing to build riveting tension, and she delivers an explosive climactic sequence that I could not put aside. Readers beware: Dusty Vermeer will capture your heart even as she places her own in jeopardy. Congratulations, BJ Sheldon! I can't wait for the sequel.

An Unexpected Treasure 8 May 2013
By Alice - Published on Amazon.com

I thought this was a very well-written and enjoyable book. Sheldon does a wonderful job of developing her characters - of giving them such depth - that I feel like I know them. A lot of difficult decisions and events throughout the story that made it so much richer than just simple one-plot stories a lot of YA books seem to have lately. Sheldon didn't write out each mundane detail of the characters' lives either - which I was hugely grateful for! This was as story that developed very well and didn't drag me through any of the characters' daily routines of waking, going to school, each class at school, etc.(way too many books out there that do that...)

I really enjoyed reading this and I enjoyed each of the characters (something that I rarely say with books...). This book is a breath of new air to YA paranormal fiction. Well done! I'd love to read more books by this author.

I loved this book. It was full of adventure and romance. This book made me cry like four times. This book was amazing from start to finish. It is definitely worth your time. You get so caught up in the plot and characters that it almost seems like you know them personally. I would recommend this book to anyone.
