Book Description

From the author of THE REVENANT: A HORROR IN DODSVILLE comes another suspenseful page-turner.

The Haunting of Stephen Wells opens with the title character lost deep within the northern Wisconsin woods as he attempts to find his best friend’s cabin before nightfall. Thirty-eight-year-old Stephen has quit his job in Las Vegas after his four-year-old daughter’s death and an ugly divorce, and now plans to spend two weeks “relaxing” at his friend’s secluded cabin and getting his life back together. At first it seems to work. Yet, on his first night, a noisy quarrel at the cabin across the lake immediately disturbs his peaceful rest, and later he is jolted awake once again, this time by a frightening wailing—almost but not quite human—and the haunting begins.

Internally, he struggles with his recent past and thoughts of ending his life enter his mind. But his luck seems to change when he meets a young beautiful woman, Laura, who, he discovers, shares a horrifying experience from his own past. He barely gets to enjoy his newfound luck, however, before it abruptly changes—and this time for the worse. Laura turns up missing, and Stephen must face the ghost who haunted him in his childhood if he has any hope of saving Laura. And he soon discovers, in order to save her, he must find the missing body of a woman murdered five years ago—before her killer does.

The twists and turns during the course of the novel will keep the reader turning the pages to see what actually happens.

Now includes first chapter to his next novel: Mourn the Wicked.

About the Author

Brian L. Blank knew he wanted to become a writer since reading Dick and Jane books in kindergarten. By age nine he was already writing horror stories to scare his friends on late summer evenings. He grew up in Medford, Wisconsin, a small town in the northern part of the state. Even though he moved to Nevada after graduating from college, he uses fictional small towns set in Wisconsin for most of his writings. The Haunting of Stephen Wells is his second completed horror novel. He currently teaches high school English in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he has resided for the past twenty-five years.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Is One Fantastic Book! 30 Oct. 2011

One word can sum up this book and this author; Fantastic! Brian Blank has come forward to claim the spot as one of the best horror writers of all time. This book was everything you would expect and more. His characters are very well developed, to the point that you can form an opinion about them. Stephen is such a likeable person. You can like him for his sense of humor, his fright, his endurance, even his taste in women (molli being one of these) The author makes us care, taking us along on a roller-coaster ride which seems to go on forever. I love the fact that just when you think the book has ended on a perfect note, it grabs your hand and takes you even further.
Brian Blank is not a predictable writer, but he certainly makes you crave for more. Hence, I rushed to download his other book "The Haunting of Stephen Wells". This one is also amazing. Both are eerie, descriptive, unpredictable and at times, humorous. I anxiously await his newest release.

I really enjoyed this second novel by Brian Blank. I read the book in a few days while I was on vacation. It was so hard to put it down. The story line and characters were engaging. I laughed, got teary, and even jumped when things went bump in the night. I am looking forward to a third novel. He keeps getting better.
