Book Description

17 Jan 2012
This accessory includes three double-sided 21" x 30" tactical battle maps -- a total of six beautifully rendered encounter locations, each one suitable for any D&D game. Each map is laid out on a one-inch-scale square grid, allowing it to be used with D&D miniatures and/or card stock tokens.

Two of the mapped locations are new, depicting a dark cathedral and a haunted chapel with an adjoining cemetery. The remaining four map locations are picked up from out-of-print D&D products and present adventure locations tied to the "haunted temples" theme.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some nice poster maps to collect 21 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback
A pack of 3 double sided poster maps with nice artwork. As well as the 2 new maps, there are 4 reprints of out of print maps, which are from previous products:
Hellspike Prison (the one with lava cracks in the floor)
P3 Nightwyrm Fortress (circular tower)
Dragondown Grotto (the one with the bones)
Frostfell Rift (the one with the 2 buildings)

It's nice for some of the old maps to be available because they are often useful for dungeon masters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quirky and different 13 May 2013
Format:Paperback
Quite different from the other battle maps I've seen - tends to be a building with some surrounds, different from the keeps/castles as there is more 'outsides' which makes them tactically different. There is also a huge bone graveyard which would be good for quite a few types of encounter. Nicely priced for 6 massive maps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff 14 Aug 2014

These are excellent. You can get annoyed at the tiles because there are never enough for what you want to do (despite the high quality). These maps are great - colourful, clever and very useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great maps, great value 25 Jan 2012
By Michael Shea - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Poster maps are the best value for good-looking encounter areas. They're easier to set up than dungeon tiles and have a lot more detail than something you'd draw out on your own. Once you build up a collection, you'll have maps for just about any major encounter area you can think of.

The map pack comes in a nice folder that you can re-use to keep your maps safe. It has four reprinted maps from Hellspike Prison, Thunderspire Labyrinth, Dragondown Grotto, and one other source. Two of them are brand new.

My only complaint is a lack of half-sized maps like those contained in the Monster Vault, Threats to the Nentyr Vale. Half-sized maps give you twice the encounter areas on the same paper and same ink.

I'd love to see a map pack containing four reprints and then eight half-sized encounter areas.

Anyway, for $9, this is a great reusable product with some excellent fantastic maps to use in your games.

5.0 out of 5 stars Six Maps, Great Value 16 July 2012
By Andrew G Smith - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
For $10, I tacked this map-pack onto one of my other orders to get free shipping. I was really pleased to get 3 double-sided maps. These are like the ones you'd get in the full adventure supplements from WotC, not the patchwork-tile-image posters that often came in things like Encounters.

Nice product WotC. Keep these coming!

For Bonus Points, include a 24x36" top loader with your order (see link below). Slide these maps in, it'll keep them safe, hold em' flat, and you can use dry/wet erase markers on the plastic to make these paper maps editable but reusable.

4.0 out of 5 stars NOT Tiles--Battlemats 1 Feb 2012
By bang - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
So, just got these puppies in the mail yesterday, so I haven't been able to actually use them in a game, but I must say, after opening the package and inspecting the elements, that this is the direction WotC should be going w/ their game supplements, in addition to the dungeon tile sets they have been publishing in the past. This product contains 3 dual-sided battlemats with different styles of ruined/haunted temples printed on them. Pretty typical stuff here, and of course, as mentioned above, you can supplement this set with other dungeon-tile sets to make the maps more personalized.

PRO's--typically beautifully printed large, high-detail battlemaps. 7 maps in total (one is a smaller temple with a first and second story printed on the same side, with the longer map divided into two sections that are printed side by side). Cool and versatile set that can be used for many different situations and can be expanded with other tile sets easily.

CON's--printed on paper, so if you are not careful, the maps/mats can easily fold/bend/get-Mountain-Dew-spilled-on-them/etc., etc.. The durability is the real reason why I only give this set 4 stars. However, if you are careful and take care of the battlemaps, they should stand up to wear and tear reasonably well, and at $9.00, it's not a huge loss if they do get destroyed. Let's just hope WotC keeps this set in print so the cost doesn't skyrock like older, OOP tile sets, right?
4.0 out of 5 stars A good Map Pack 7 Sep 2013
By Gwyd - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Adds a few areas needed for miscellaneous undead campaigns. Nice for side quests or if you have a module & no way to print what they have drawn.
4.0 out of 5 stars As good as you would expect 24 Jun 2013
By Kevin J. Barnard - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I'm excited to use some of the maps set here, but until those situations come up, there is limited use. Specific locations/settings. Very cool designs, but not as multifunctional as tiles. This came as described and in great condition. I'm very happy for my purchase.
