More About the Author

It was following a serious road accident in the late 1980s that I decided as I could not return to work, I would write a book.
Having always had an interest in the Supernatural - I read the tarot cards for a while - the booklet was obviously always going to be about ghosts. When I was reading the cards many people told me ghost stories, so with their permission these were included. Local papers were always helpful in publishing my appeals for stories, and there was no shortage of people willing to share their ghostly tales.
My first ghost booklet Mystical Staffordshire, appeared in the early 1990s. I really only intended writing one, but as it was so popular I wrote another, then another. Numerous ghostly booklets later I combined them into Mysterious Happenings. I have also written other books, Birmingham Girls, Choosing Your Psychic Pathway, Ghosts Angels & Hauntings.
I decided to turn my hand to writing fiction in 2007, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of writing Dancing with Spirits and Spirits of the Lights the sequel. Followed by The Other Place, and Jen's Story,Torn Between Two Times. All of my books apart from Birmingham Girls are full of mystical happenings.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Haunted Past Life. 11 Mar 2014

the novel started well but somehow I got lost, and by the time I personally court up, it became unbelieable. Sorry not for me, I would like the author to be more focused on the main characters, and not keep filiting from one to another to presumably make it interesting. Don't do it your good, you don't need sooo much going on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Amateurish 14 Feb 2014

A promising story line, poorly written. It didn't flow at all and felt as though it was written in a hurry with little editing. This spoiled the book for me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected 12 Jan 2014

I am afraid this book didn't live up to expectation. Instead, I stopped reading before halfway through the book. Disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Simple fun but disappointing 7 Jan 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found the story idea a really good one but felt let down it didn't live up to my expectations, it felt corny and totally unrealistic in the way Jen reacted to her time travel, kind of oh well let's just get on with it ... and her lack of care and concern for leaving her children seemed totally ridiculous any normal mother would be distraught....it just annoyed me...very disappointed

2.0 out of 5 stars Strange story 30 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
But not in a good way - poorly written, story doesn't make sense and is not convincing, characters not fully developed... wish I hadn't wasted my time reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Captivating Read 21 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A Haunted Past Life (Jen's Story)I was instantly drawn into this story and followed all the twists and turns with an ever-increasing desire to discover what would happen next. Carol Arnall is an author of exceptional talent who paints a picture of a world where the unusual materialises when the reader least expects it. I strongly recommend this book.

Jen, a lonely, troubled young woman moves mysteriously between two time zones and two completely different lives and has no control over these strange moves.
This is a beautiful story with some very nostalgic and well researched images of the 1960's which gives the story even more credibility.
I find myself very moved by her dilemma: which life does she really want and how can she go back (or forward) to the one she finally choose?
Jen's story completely absorbed me right to the unexpected and completely plausible end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jen's Haunted Story 29 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Although this book is called A Haunted Past Life, Jen's story is one of a haunted present life, too. The book starts with a Cinderella-type setting (turned on its head with a stepfather rather than a stepmother) who is tied to the house because of agoraphobia, brought about by low self-esteem and confidence thanks to years of abuse by her stepfather and stepsisters. Her real father died when she was very young and her mother is unsupportive. The only friends she has are Angela and Jo, ghosts who visit her and offer comfort in her time of need.

When her stepfather tries to rape her Jen finds the strength to flee to Hoylake, Merseyside, in the car that her father left her, and get herself a flat. She begins a career as an online medium, helping those who approach her to find solace after losing loved ones. This brings Ian and his daughter into her life. When Ian begs for a personal consultation Jen braves her condition and drives to his house. Ian's young daughter has imaginary friends who Jen discovers are actually ghosts of children, and these ghosts visit her in the flat. Jen and Ian are becoming close romantically, but just as she is coming to terms with battling with her agoraphobia her car breaks down, and forced to go out to get groceries to feed herself and her new cat, she calls a taxi. The taxi driver, the mysterious Mike, doesn't drive her to the shops, he drives her to 1965, where she discovers she has a husband and young daughter - and no agoraphobia.

Jen's story alternates between her two lives in the 1960s and 2010s, and the reader is taken not only on a mystic journey but also a journey of emotions as Jen has to decide where her heart really lies.
