Product Description

Product Description

Since joining The Bluecoat Press, in 1998, Tom Slemen has become something of an institution in Liverpool and is now the undisputed authority on the supernatural history of the city. Most visitors, and even most Liverpudlians, don't even suspect that such a history exists, yet Tom has shown us that it certainly does.
Tom is a great communicator, which is why the city's radio stations vie with each other to have him on their programmes. People trust Tom, which is why they are prepared to share their personal paranormal experiences with him. Their stories, and those which Tom uncovers through hours of diligent research in the Liverpool Records Office and the city's other archives, provide the endlessly fascinating material for his books.
The pages of Haunted Liverpool 16 are crammed with crazy characters - some sad, some mad, and some downright bad - but all with a supernatural connection. In the first category is the Little Rose Girl, a ghostly child who signals the birth of special children by placing a wreath of roses outside their door. In the section entitled 'Of Unsound Mind' you will find a masked intruder, who is both mad and bad. terrorising, as he does, two innocent women. But if it is plain wickedness that you are after, then the last story is the one for you, in which the 'Old Trickster' himself destroys the lives of two drinkers from the Roscoe Head, by exploiting their vanity and greed in the most improbable ways!
Haunted Liverpool 16 contains a never-before-published tale by Tom called Can You Keep A Secret?
As usual, this book comes with a health warning; do not delve into these pages if you are of a nervous disposition ...

5.0 out of 5 stars A work of Genius 20 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback
Tom Slemen is a genius, and this book underlines his work. So many money-grabbing people in Liverpool are trying to copy him, it's just ludicrous and sickening and the people can see right through this. One 'author' even put the title "Haunted Liverpool" in his inferior overpriced booklet, and shamelessly used Tom's stories from his Tales from the Past articles in the Liverpool Echo. Tom put Liverpool on the paranormal map, and this book is brilliant and typically very readable. If you want to read the King, the Master of Merseyside Mystery, read the Haunted Liverpool books by Tom Slemen, and not by the rip-off merchants and the alleged "mediums". Tom Slemen is an original. His works are original, and would be wannabe Tom Slemens who criticise his work are really crudely admiring him, for jealousy is a primitive form of admiration.

4.0 out of 5 stars Haunted Liverpool Books 11 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
These books are a brilliant read and a credit to Tom Slemen, these books brought some good memories flooding back, when i was a kid i would take the books with me, when i and some friends went camping in a nearby wood, we would sit round and pick a story and scare ourselves whittles, all good fun though. don't hear of the youth today doing anything like this, mind you with all the scare mongering the government and police do, and paranoid parents can say i blame them.
