For some, death is not the end. Thanks to modern medicine, they are given a second chance. A second chance to live, and another chance to kill.

Imagine if Tess Gerritsen, Lee Child, Dan Brown, David Baldacci and Karen Rose all got together and decided to write a fact-based, thought provoking medical thriller that educated, challenged and entertained, helping you see the action unfurl in your mind's eye as if it were a film playing just for you: then this could be that book.

The latest novel from Ian C.P. Irvine 'Haunted From Within' is a fast paced contemporary medical thriller, based upon a true medical mystery that scientists and doctors do not yet understand.

Readers should be warned that the novel contains strong language and scenes of sex and violence.

The Story:
When Peter Nicolson, a reporter with the Edinburgh Evening News, is almost killed by a gang leader out to make his mark, the only way to save his life is through a double kidney transplant. One of the first people in the world to be treated with the new genetic wonder drug 'SP-X4', Peter makes a remarkable recovery. Yet as he recovers, his personality begins to change, and he discovers that he can see visions of unsolved killings committed by a murderer that no one has ever caught. Peter sets out to solve the murders, to track down the killer, and find out the truth behind the visions that he sees.

As time progresses, and as Peter uncovers a trail of death that stretches across the United Kingdom and Europe, the makers of 'SP-X4' watch his actions from afar, anxious that he will uncover the incredible truth behind their new drug treatment, and conspiring to make sure he does not succeed in revealing it to the world.

'Haunted From Within' is also the story of seven separate lives: readers will follow each character as the plot develops and their lives intersect, culminating in a surprise ending that few will predict.

Please beware: this book is based on fact: a medical phenomena that few understand and most are unaware of. At first, it may seem hard to believe. This is after all, just a story, a fast-paced thriller written to entertain you...but it will leave you wondering and talking about the definition of 'life' itself. Enjoy!

Ian Irvine was brought up in Scotland, and studied Physics for far too many years, before travelling the world working for high-technology companies. Ian has spent a career helping build the internet and delivering its benefits to users throughout the world, well as helping to bring up a family. Ian enjoys writing, painting and composing in his spare time. His particular joy is found in taking scientific fact and creating a thrilling story around it in such a way that readers learn science whilst enjoying the thrill of the ride. It is Ian's hope that everyone who reads an I.C.P.Irvine novel will come away learning something interesting that they would never otherwise have found an interest in. Never Science fiction. Always science fact. With a twist.

The first of Ian's novels is a Genetic Conspiracy Thriller which explores the world of Stem Cell Research and encourages us all to ask some very searching questions about the advances that science is making, and how much we, or others, should let it affect society. A contemporary adventure, "The Orlando File" takes the reader around the world and back, and creates a unique moral dilemma that the reader cannot help get embroiled in: at the end, the reader must ask themself, what they would do in that situation?

His second novel "The Crown of Thorns" explores the power of genetics, explores the questions that the potential to clone humans will raise, and asks the ultimate question...what would happen if a scientist found a way to clone Jesus Christ?

Ian's third novel "London 2012 : What If?" departs from the world of genetics and explores an interesting possibility that Quantum Physics raises:the possibility for parallel worlds to exist alongside each other...and what would happen if a man who wondered what other types of lives he could be living had he made other choices, where unexpectedly to step from one world into another, similar but different, parallel world. "What If" is also an interesting vovage through human emotions, and many readers will find themselves asking themselves similar questions that lead character does as they read the book. As with both "The Crown of Thorns" and "The Orlando File", at the end of the book the reader is left thinking...and different readers may take away different views on how the novels did, or should have ended... It is hoped that in this way, the novels will make themselves ideal subjects for reading clubs or book clubs.

Ian's fourth book "The Sleeping Truth" is a departure from his fast paced medical and scientific thrillers, and is a contemporary novel inspired and based upon the tragic events that affected everyone who lived in London in 2005. The novel is fiction, and all characters in the novel, except one (the singer Helen Boulding), are imaginary. The novel tries to capture the spirit of London life in 2005. It is essentially a love story, but with every chapter there comes a new twist. As the pages roll by the main character becomes involved with a dilemma that changes and evolves and gets more complex with each passing day. And then, just as you think you have come to a happy ending, the world around Andrew Jardine collapses, and Andrew realises that nothing in his life was as it seemed. The novel explores the importance of trust in a relationship, and takes the main character on a voyage of discovery through which Andrew discovers that his whole life has been based upon a lie. But can he discover the truth and learn the vital lesson he needs, before it is too late? Or will he have lost the love of his life for ever...Okay, so perhaps it is a thriller after all... but a thriller of the heart!

Book Number Five has rapidly become an international besteller, first in the US, but now also in the UK where is has been the No.1. Medical Thriller since June 2013. Available either as a complete book: "Haunted from Within", or as two parts "Haunted From Within (Book One): Maciek's Story (which is FREE) and "Haunted From Within (Book Two): Peter's Story. Maciek's Story has already had over 90,000 downloads and in the UK has hundreds of reviews with an average rate of 4.72 stars out of five.

Book number Six was recently published and is a adventure thriller for everyone, with a bit of everything in it: Time Travel, Nuclear Weapons, Pirates from the 17th Century transported to the 21st Century, treasure, a pathogen plague that threatens to wipe out all humanity, romance,'s all there! : "21st Century Pirates Inc". (Also available in two parts, the first part which is Free!(Free to Pillage!)

There is also a Book number seven: "Alexis Meets Wiziwam the Wizard" -it's a charming story for six year olds learning to read, and tells the story of a little girl, Alexis, who discovers that a Wizard is teaching magic to fairies and goblins in her own school! She joins the class, learns to fly, and thwarts a secret plan by a bad goblin to destroy the world! Whereas all the other books are in part based on some essence of truth, "Alexis meets Wiziwam the Wizard is completely made up!"

Ian hopes that if you honour him by spending the time reading one his novels, that you will find it a positive experience, and enjoy it.

Please write to him and let him know what you think...and if you enjoy his works, please spread the word and tell your friends!

Happy Reading!

2.0 out of 5 stars too much padding for me 20 Nov 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have reviewed the first half of this book ("Book I") and I am sorry but I feel the same about this one. I can see I am in the minority, but maybe that is because the people who didn't like book one didn't bother to read book two, but as I had already bought it, I carried on to read it.
I found it tedious and boring to read Peter's endless repetitive nightmares, his erections and sexual fantasies, his foul swearing and his fears that he was turning into the dead monster whose kidneys he'd received. I skim-read parts of it.
There was also the repetition of the DNA, the drugs and the search for the soul that we had in book one - just too much padding.
Peter was unbelievable going to dig up bodies and thus spoiling crime scenes - even if the killer was dead.
The character of the vigilante OAP was more interesting.
This book was just not for me.
I had d/loaded Crown of Thorns before I read these books, and before I realized that that too is a two-part book. Not sure if I will bother reading it now. I know it is a marketing ploy, but I really think a book should "stand alone" - even if the ongoing life of the characters is continued in future books. I will be careful in future not to get any books which say "part 1".

2.0 out of 5 stars Proofreader kneaded ~ a trainee's paridise! 8 May 2014
By peter
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Just worth the 77p it cost me to obtain the concluding second book. An engaging enough story for its genre but woefully let down by the conspicuous absence of a competent proofreader. It was to become insistently entertaining for all the wrong reasons. There are too many examples to cite (it would be a matter of several hundreds) from typos to grammar, to fundamental faux pas in punctuation, to tautology, to dull cliche but also to just very poor style; and pitifully often, simply the wrong words are used. As a result, story and (most regrettably) author ultimately loses credibility. Anyone who enjoys reading and the English form itself, will both despair and laugh at all the wrong moments as they read, while waiting -and not too long- for the next literary gaffe.
Here are some examples from book 2:

'...diverting the course of justice...' (location 2341)
'viscously' for viciously (3254)
'curfew' for deadline (2630)
'blue tape' for red tape (2946)
'...altered ego...' (1852)
...'repeat some of the same questions twice...' (2333)
'medium' for average or mean (5267)
'...'ordinance survey' for ordnance survey (location forgotten; head reeling)
'totally illegal...' (even worserer than just plain illegal? ~ 4347)
''cufflinks' for handcuffs (4903) al et al et al

2.0 out of 5 stars Really people? 5 stars?! 29 Nov 2013
By catkin
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read loads of reviews before I downloaded both books together and I genuinely thought hundreds of people couldn't be generously over rating the books - how wrong I was! Far too long, completely far fetched and a terribly cheesy ending. It didn't even persuade me to look up 'organ transplant personality change' on the internet as the author suggested it may. It just made me glad that I'd only spent a pound.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much detail! 6 Nov 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Enjoyed book 1. Looked forward to Book 2, but had too much detail for me, found I was skipping quite a few paragraphs. Either could have been a lot shorter or just put one longer book, no need for two.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read 10 Oct 2013

Both book 1 and 2 are an excellent read. As an avid Stephen King fan, I rate this novel as being even better than King.
So many different angles which all come together at the end of book 2.

Really, good book, thoroughly enjoyed it! Worth paying for book 2 to find out the ending, although would rather it of all been in one book.
