5.0 out of 5 stars Haunted Brilliance 7 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
This book is a great read; full of out of the ordinary tales and some very spooky personal encounters, it shows fascinating points of view, and is bursting with historical stories, myths and legends while pointing out both fact and fiction that could place doubt in even the most sceptical of minds. Some of the tales are shocking in their humanity, and yet show history as it once was, my personal favourite being the anecdote titled "The White Women" located on page 25. The book itself containing legends of black dogs and banshees, monks and monsters, with hauntings of castles and hospitals not dissimilar to those we hear everyday. It is also accompanied by stunning pictures of the area showing the beauty that hides such dark happenings. It is interesting not just to those who live in County Cork but to anyone who is fascinated with paranormal stories or just historical tales. It's amazingly well researched and wonderfully written, most definitely worth reading!
