Book Description

22 Sep 2011
Haunt is a tripping-balls Los Angeles noir, where a mysterious dame drags you through a time-warping Bizarro hall of mirrors. She's the girl of your dreams. Too bad she's dead. OR IS SHE? In Haunt, "you" are the hapless corporate tool and rock star wannabe turned private Dick. Here, even your most inconsequential choices can make all the difference between a Hollywood ending on the beach and sucking cock for clues. This is genial lowbrow high lit weirdness: the funny, punchy cousin of Danielewski's House of Leaves, a Vonnegut and Salinger paté on a choose-your-own cracker, with a lapdance from Nancy Drew. As much fun to make as it is to eat! Laura Lee Bahr is an award-winning indie actor/playwrite/screenwriter with a gift for the hilariously, tragically absurd. Haunt is her first novel.

"Haunt" by LLB.......

.....MESMERIZING.......did you believe the answers were the key to understanding? When it was the questions that mattered.............

TANTALIZING.........one should always have something scandalous to read on the train.

CAPTIVATING........how do you connect the dots.........when the dots keep moving?

........ and DEVASTATING.......because you've reached the final page, haven't you?

..........or have you just begun?

LLB - OMG! WTF?

5.0 out of 5 stars Lyrical, trippy, warped, sexy, freaky page-turner 12 Feb 2012
By MARNIE OLSON - Published on Amazon.com
Read this book. It will trip you right out. In a good way. You probably haven't read a book like this before. I hadn't. Not really... there is something reminiscent about it, Vonnegut, Robbins, Bukowski with a vagina? But ultimately, the style is pretty unique.
It is funny. Laugh out loud funny, and creepy and ethereal and weird and lyrical and savvy and dark and fun. Sometimes, I was turned on and creeped out at the same time, sometimes I was laughing so hard I had to read passages a couple of times because I felt like I was watching a movie where when you laugh too hard you miss something - and then I'd remember I was reading a book.
I don't want to give anything away, but when Ms. Bahr starts talking straight to you (read it and you'll know what I mean) you suddenly can't wait to find out who you are.
Do yourself a favor. Melt your mind with Haunt.

I am an avid reader and collector of horror fiction. If it's out there, I figure I have read it. Haunt is a fabulous, trippy, joy ride that will take you places you never knew you should probably avoid (and if you know what I mean by that, this book will be right up your alley). For genre fans, suffice to say that John Skipp developed a new imprint to ensure this book would get out there. I will not do it justice if i tried to descibe it. It is a sexy-creepy-ghost story-mystery. It is an out of body meditation on obsession. It is a great read and it is a fun read. Get it. Read it. Spread the word.
