I read other peoples reviews before getting one of these and was aware that they chipped easily before getting them.
However you get what they pay for and these type of wooden high chairs are usually considerably more. So I think the price reflects this flaw.
The colour is funky and the kids love it, also because it is a completely smooth surface (my last ones had a wood grain) they can be cleaned very easily.
I know that the fact that when banged or knocked they have a risk of chipping the colour, however I have had mine for a few months and they are still in a perfectly good condition. If in time it is an issue, I will give mine a quick go over with a can of spray paint and they will look like new again I am sure.
I have used this style of high chair with both my boys as I much prefer the fact that they don't have a tray and the child is sat at the table with the family and can get involved with conversations. Also because the bar is removable I have taken it away with both boys at about 14months, they can easily climb in and out (although I have a strict no getting up during dinner rule! - and they do listen to that as otherwise the bars would have been back on a long time ago. aged 1 1/2 and 3)
My previous high chairs of this type lasted okay, however were joined together in the middle with metal bars instead of the slats of wood, looked nice but the boys used to stand on them and they bent slightly, then the chairs became wobbly and the foot rest at the bottom would slide out so easily when pushed with a toddler foot. I am hopeful that this different make with the wooden slats will last longer.
