Product Description

Ancient Egypt 3500 years ago - a land ruled by the all-powerful female king, Hatshepsut. Ambitious, ruthless and worldly: a woman who established Amun as the chief god of Egypt, bestowing his Priesthood with unprecedented riches and power. This is a story of vision and obsession, of mighty projects and heartbreaking failures - the story of a woman possessed by the desire for power and the need to love.

Historical content well researched, compasionantly written with clever insights into a world of intrigue, plots and loves. The jealousy and intrigue that went on behind the royal throne in the house of Egypt ,totaly engrossing facts of life in ancient times, and how the complecated web of palace politics formed the life of the female Pharo.

1.0 out of 5 stars Atrocious travesty of an Iconic Pharaoh, 14 Feb 2011

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Hatshepsut: Daughter of Amun (Paperback)
Hatshepsut was an enigmatic, iconic Pharaoh this book is not a representation of her life or Egypt during her reign. I have spent many years researching Hatshepsut and looked forward to spending a few enjoyable hours with this book - how WRONG I was, this spurious diatribe spouted by Moyra Caldecott was a total waste of money, and the time or effort needed to digest the admonition of one of the greatest Pharaoh's of Egypt. Historical novels by their very nature should be based on fact. Michelle Moran writes in this style very well buy her books instead of wasting your money on this one.
