Personally i'd have gone for Breakin' Dishes as the 3rd single but looking back, i can see why Rihanna went for Hate That I Love You. It shows just how incredibly versatile she is as an artist, that she can do beautiful ballads as well as the uptempo stuff we all know and love her for.
Built around a dreamy acoustic guitar chord progression layed over a characteristically hip-hop beat, this tune is an immediate winner. It's got a warmth to it that you can't help but fall in love with and although i'm not usually a fan of Ne-Yo, he comes good on this track and serves as the perfect accompaniment to Rihanna's vocals.
The star attraction of this single though is the K-Klassic mix which serves as the b-side! I didn't even know K-Klass were still going but everyone remembers them from their amazing rave hits from the early 90s. And that's what they bring to this song - transforming Rihanna's ballad into a sun-drenched Ibiza club anthem it's dripping with retro rave piano's and twirling synths. This could be something staight out of the early 90s and it sounds perfect - one of the best remixes i've heard in a long time.

out of all the duets we have seen through-out 07, this is one of the best, when i heard about this song i have to admit i wasn't sure it would work, but somehow they pulled it off....and you just fall in love with the song and start singing (or trying in some cases lol)

When it comes to musical acts today, Rihanna had struggled to find her footing as a serious act. That came well to fans with her hit Umbrella, but all she had really done were dance songs, and not branched out to a broader audience. That has shown well with ballads nicely, with Hate That I Love You, the third single from A Good Girl Gone Bad. her collaboration with soulful singer Ne-yo is one of the more soulful duets I've heard this past year, and shows a nice melodic tone the two share on the song. It shows she is finally trying to head in the right direction, and I hope it tries to work. I also hope she and Ne-yo should try to do another set of duets together.
