Be warned, this is quite a violent (though not pointlessly so) film. And it doesn't have the usually singing, dancing colour fest of most Hindi movie).
The story- Sarika (played by Urmila Motondka), a modern, independent young woman, from a decent background is going about her normal day at the Travel Agency where she works, when a customer, Karan (Saif Ali Khan)walks in and changes her life forever. Karan, tries to get a date with her straight away but she turns him down because she doesn't know him. However, later that week, they bump into each other when he comes to her aid after she is mugged. She then agrees to a coffee which leads to them dating.
Karan is the generous, attentive, witty boy friend. But there is a whole other side to him that Sarika is totally unaware of.
When a friend of Karan who Sarika had just met is featured on the news as a wanted gangster who'd just be shot dead, Sarika's world begins to fall apart. Karan claims not to have know the guy very well, that he was a business aquaintance. Sarika finds herself in prison, charged with gangland activity. How on earth did a good girl like her end up there? Who is Karan really? Is he telling the truth?
Sarika gets out of prison, discovers the truth behind her going to jail and exacts a chilling revenge.
Saif Ali Khan, who people may be more familiar with as a lovable romantic lead and funny guy, completely plays against type here. And by so doing, he shows what a talented actor he is, capable of becoming a very complex character, and to have us guessing as to his true nature, just as he has love interest doing in the film. Well dione Saif!
All in all, the acting is of a very high standard. This is a movie worth owning.
