Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

There's a rumble in the jungle with these Hungry Hippos. All the hippos love to munch on marbles... they just can't get enough. But which hippo's the hungriest? See which hippo gobbles the most in this feeding frenzy. Hungry Hippos is a great children's game for a rainy day.

Four hippos, 20 marbles and only one aim--what's not to like? A hilarious way to develop your pre-schooler's hand-eye coordination. Start with one marble in the middle for the littlest players and then add more and more as their skills improve. Of course, for older players and long-time devotees of the game you can always just chuck all the marbles in the middle, engage in a spot of fast and furious fun and see whose Hippo can eat the most.

The frantic marble-munching action game. Gobble up as many marbles as possible. The faster you press their tails, the more marbles they try to chomp. If your hippo gobbles the most, you win.

am not going to comment on the play quality of this game as I think we all know what it does and that it's basically noisy fun, but I do want to warn potential purchasers about a major flaw in the design - the game does not fit back in the box!!

Basically the box is the same size as the blue square play arena so when you put it all together with the hippos bottoms sticking out it no longer fits in the box. It is not as if it comes apart easily, in fact i gave up trying for fear of snapping something. So we are left with a game containing small balls sitting loose in the cupboard - need I say more!

very silly design, leading to iminent loss of marbles for the game and for parents!

Ahhh, Hungry Hippos, a game that has probably lost out to the Nintendo Wii in recent years.
I dug this out of the loft the other week when sorting through my old toys. I engaged my 5 year old nephew in a game when his mum brought him over. It brought the memories flooding back to when my sister and I played it, with the problem of the balls flying off the gaming arena due to the frantic pounding of the levers still occuring in 2010!

To its credit, Hungry Hippos is a very sturdy game, it can take a hell of a pounding and survive.
If you've got some little people with lots of energy to burn, then sit them around Hungry Hippos, just make sure you have some ear plugs on standby!

I bought this for my children as it is a game i had much fun with in my childhood. They like the game very much but the quality is terrible. It used to be 1 complete piece of moulded tough plastic and was very durable. this version has to be assembled, the hippos are detachable. the plastic is much thinner and has a cheap feel to it. the hippos do not seat properly when you try to fix them on and when you try to play, the hippos stick open or do not move at all. it spoils the overall fun of the game. i would therefore recommend if you cannot buy the original durable game DON'T BOTHER

Hungry Hippos is not a terrifically old game, but old enough not to be found in stores and toy shops. I was looking for a new, unopened game at a price not inflated and almost immediately available.

Found at Amazon on first visit with all requirements met. I saved time and effort and I was very pleased. The game was delivered within two working days.

Tracking available from Amazon of your purchase is another added bonus.

Bought this for my niece. She had been asking for this game in particular. Very good fast moving, a bit frantic, game. But hey, that just what kids like. Snapping the hippos mouths to get as many balls as they can.

Very good toy for kids and for adults to join in and show their competitive side.

Was this not the greatest game ever ? It is one of the stand out presents from my childhood and I thought I'd share it with my son. I remember fondly the crazy times we had whacking hippos to make them swallow as many balls as possible and was looking forward to reliving this experience. It's been fun and our four year old has really taken to it. It's pretty sturdy and has already taken one hell of a pounding. However it is irritating that every now and again the mouths of the hippos get jammed wide open and the game has to be stopped for 30 seconds of frustrated jaw manipulation. As another reviewer states, the game does not fit back in the box and aside from using brute force the hippos will not detach from the base. This has meant that we have lost many of the balls.

Hungry Hippos is a great game, my son loved it as a kid and I admit so did I. Purchased for my grand-daughter who is 4 and has just started being interested in games and she loves it too.
