Does not install happily onto Windows 7 or Vista due to the installer being 16 bit which 64 bit systems do not handle happily. The solution is to install a VMWare virtual XP machine and then load into this - A lot of fiddling but worthwhile for many older programs and games.
For those of us who prefer the intellectual challenge of progressing by solving a series of puzzles at our own pace; rather than rampaging along Duke Nukem style or waiting around to see how a strategy works out like in Civilisation, this game is a must.
Following on from the original Shivers this game takes the concept and game play to a ghost town in the US.
You progress by solving a very eclectic range of puzzles scattered around what is essentially a haunted house. Failure to get it right results in a loss of life force in certain cases so you are not unlimited adding a certain piquancy to your efforts.
It seems (to me at least) to be harder to get started in the game proper than the original, once going though the major change compared to the original Shivers is that a lot more of the clues are musical and a certain macabre sense of humour is evident.
