From the picture I expected the handle to look rather aged looking,with a white and dusty look over the black. But in fact it looks like a brand new cast item. At first I was disappointed, but the wand has grown on me. The weight is very nice, and besides the handle the rest of the wand looks great. Just from holding it the paint is rubbing off the top end and any grooves sticking out at the handle. If you want it to remain as it came don't touch it often.

I've had this for a while, and the weight and length is good and it feels sturdy. Unfortunately, the wand itself isn't. It snapped at the hilt where the handle meets the staff after only having it a few days, and it has not been handled much. I managed to superglue it back together, and have kept it in the box since, but recently, my partner wanted to look at it, and was mimicking the wand movements from the last film, and the handle snapped in the middle where the two sections of filigree meet. Again, I had to glue it back together, and haven't taken it out since!

I feel that it would be much more durable if made of a single length of wood, or something stronger than polyresin.

Despite the little accidents, it is a good wand, although more expensive than it needs to be for something that is no doubt factory made in a cast.

This is a brilliant toy for younger children as it is as real as you can get to the one on the movies. My child was so excited and has'nt stopped using it since. The plastic is hard so if dropped the wand will not break.
Overall this is a Excelent gift for younger children, and a collectors item for the older.
