I have noticed this 2-pack popping up all over the place these days, almost like NECA toys decided to raid their warehouses of unsold merchandise. Kind of strange how when "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was first released, one couldn't find a single NECA figure on the shelves. But here we are after the end of the "Deathly Hallows" films, and we get this 2-pack.
I will give a basic rundown on each of the figures:
Harry Potter:
PROS: NECA's sculpting and attention-to-detail are pulled off well with the sculpt. Much better this time is that Harry's wand is a little thicker, with less of a chance of breaking.
CONS: Recycling of various parts is often a side-effect of some toymakers, and here, NECA has chosen to reuse the same head as on the 'Order of the Phoenix' Harry. The paint applications on Harry's face are somewhat sloppy, and he looks like he's pursing/puckering his lips a bit. As well, the semi-squat-style pose he's in could have benefited from a straighter, more 'ready-for-action' pose.
Ginny Weasley:
PROS: The closest to a completely new member of "Dumbledore's Army" in quite some time. Ginny's stance is somewhat more erect than Harry, also making her appear taller even than Hermione Granger's NECA figure.
CONS: Much like Harry, the paint on Ginny Weasley's face really doesn't do much to flatter Harry's girlfriend. Some have said children in England have a 'milk-bottle complexion,' and Ginny's face seems to reflect such a hue, making her one of the palest figures there is (well, next to Lord Voldemort). As well, the detail in her face seems somewhat 'minimal' when compared to some of the previous figures.
While they aren't the greatest Harry Potter figures there are, the ability to get Harry and Ginny in a 2-pack is a pretty good deal, as finding them as single-packed figures is almost impossible (unless you want to shell out lots of money). Personally, I prefer this rendition of Harry to the more recently-released 'Deathly Hallows' version, which uses THE SAME HEAD MOLD AGAIN, but slathers on even more paint, making Harry look like he's hiding some really, really bad acne.
