Product Description

The first seven films of the hugely popular 'Harry Potter' franchise. 'The Philosopher's Stone' (2001) sees Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) newly enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he makes friends with Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). When the trio unexpectedly discover a three-headed dog guarding a secret trapdoor, they begin to suspect that something important might be hidden beneath the school, and when they investigate it leads to an encounter with the evil wizard Voldemort (Ian Hart). Will Harry be able to keep up with his studies, lead his team to victory in the school sport Quidditch, and still triumph over the dreaded Voldemort? In 'The Chamber of Secrets' (2002), Harry, Ron and Hermione return to Hogwarts for their second year. Gilderoy Lockhart (Kenneth Branagh) and Pomona Sprout (Miriam Margoyles) have joined the staff and Harry and his friends soon find that once again all is not right at the school - pupils seem to be petrified, literally, and a monster is on the loose. In 'The Prisoner of Azkaban' (2004), the trio are now in their third year of wizarding school, but there is a shadow hanging over Harry: dangerous serial killer Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) has escaped from the Wizards' prison, Azkaban - and he wants revenge for the death of his master, Voldemort, who Harry defeated 13 years earlier. For Harry's protection, Azkaban has sent an army of soul-sucking Dementors to guard Hogwarts from a possible attack by Black - but they turn out to be as much of a threat to Harry as Black himself. As myth and magic combine to weave their dark spell, Harry uncovers a few more crucial secrets about his mysterious past. 'The Goblet of Fire' (2005) sees Harry board the train to Hogwarts School, where he will attend his fourth year of magical education. Shortly after his reunion with Ron and Hermione, Harry is introduced to yet another Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher: the grizzled Mad-Eye Moody (Brendan Gleeson). Of course, Harry's wishes for an uneventful school year are almost immediately shattered when he is unexpectedly chosen, along with fellow student Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson), as Hogwarts' representative in the Tri-Wizard Tournament, which awards whoever completes three magical tasks the most skilfully with a thousand-galleon purse and the admiration of the international wizarding community. In 'The Order of the Phoenix' (2007) Harry, now in his fifth year of study, discovers that much of the wizarding world has been denied the truth about his recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). Fearing that Hogwarts' venerable Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon), is lying about Voldemort's return in order to undermine his power and take his job, the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge (Robert Hardy), appoints a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher to keep watch over Dumbledore and the Hogwarts students. But Professor Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton)'s Ministry-approved course of defensive magic leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the dark forces threatening them and the entire wizarding community, meaning Harry has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves 'Dumbledore's Army,' Harry teaches them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead. In 'The Half-Blood Prince' (2009) Lord Voldemort exerts his power over both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and, consequently, Hogwarts no longer provides the safe haven it once did. Suspecting that new dangers lie within the castle ramparts, Harry discovers a mysterious old book marked 'property of the Half-Blood Prince' and begins to unlock the secrets of Voldemort's dark past, aided by Ron, Hermione and new teacher Horace Slughorn (Jim Broadbent). Meanwhile, the sixth-formers grapple with teenage hormones as various romantic liaisons unfold between them, some more dignified than others. Finally, in 'The Deathly Hallows: Part One' (2010) Harry, Ron and Hermione, now no longer at Hogwarts, set out on a dangerous quest to uncover and destroy the lost Horcruxes, the secret behind Voldemort's immortality. Voldemort's power has now grown to unprecedented proportions, with the Death Eaters in control of the Ministry of Magic and under orders to find Harry and bring him to Voldemort - alive. Away from the protection of Dumbledore and Hogwarts, Harry draws ever closer to the moment for which he has been preparing since boyhood: the ultimate showdown with the Dark Lord.

  • Titles Comprise:

Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone: Harry Potter learns on his 11th birthday that he is the orphaned son of a powerful witch and wizard and possesses magical powers of his own. At Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry embarks on the adventure of a lifetime, discovering a world of magic and fantasy where he is destined to live.

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets: Cars fly, trees fight back and a mysterious elf comes to warn Harry Potter at the start of the second year of his amazing journey into the world of wizardry. This year at Hogwarts, spiders talk, letters scold and Harry's own unsettling ability to speak to snakes turns his friends against him. From dueling clubs to rogue Bludgers, it's a year of adventure and danger when bloody writing on a wall announces: "The Chamber of Secrets has been opened". To save Hogwarts will require all of Harry, Ron and Hermione's magical abilities and courage in this spellbinding adaptation of J.K. Rowling's second book.

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban: It's Harry's third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. More terrifying than his increasingly difficult classes is the fact that convicted murderer Sirius Black (Oldman), an associate of Lord Voldemort, has escaped Azkaban prison and could be coming after him...

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire: Beset by nightmares that leave his scar hurting more than usual, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) is all too happy to escape his disturbing dreams by attending the Quidditch World Cup with his friends Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson). But something sinister ignites the skies at the Quidditch campsite; the Dark Mark, the sign of the evil Lord Voldemort. It's conjured by his followers, the Deat

1.0 out of 5 stars Check you have the correct discs! 14 Dec 2011
I bought this box set a while back and hadnt got around to watching them until recently. The problem came however when I came to watch The Half Blood Prince. Instead of the Half Blood Prince in the box I got the bonus disc and two copies of Order of The Pheonix. I have heard of other complaints similar to this such as a copy of Polar Express replacing the 3rd film so if you do purchase this box set be sure to check you have the correct discs straight away.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sounds a bit iffy ???? 25 Jun 2011
By Julian
Now I'm not going to bore the PANTS off you like other reviewers by moaning that Warner Brothers have obviously released yet another incomplete box set , or tell you about the films that you've know doubt already seen , but rather tell you about the transfer to Blu-Ray and if its any good or not.

Picture quality is not the worst transfer I've seen for Blu-Ray , but certainly not the best either...Borderlines on satisfactory.
The sound unfortunately seems to be suffering quite a bit on the first two films (films 3 to 7 are fine) making me think my AV receiver was on the blink , but checked other Blu-Rays on it and its fine...PHEW !

Have to turn the volume up on my amp a good extra 10 notches (which would have blown the windows out of the house if it were any other Blu-Rays) just to get a decent level , but still wasn't getting the quality I should be , so checked the old DVD's of the same films and of the same scenes and to my horror , they do sound a little better on the so called OLD FORMAT.

Getting a little fed up now that transfers to Blu-Ray are not up to the quality that should be (albeit the first two films) and be sorted out by now , as Blu-Ray has been around a good few years and you'd think they would get it right first time !

1.0 out of 5 stars *This review has noting to do the movies 16 Jun 2012
This review has noting to do the Harry Potter movies, they are really good, I just think it is pathetic to have released a boxed set containing Years 1 - 7 Part 1, when Year 7 Part 2, the final Harry Potter film was just a few months away. Now there is a great boxed set, Harry Potter - The Complete 8-Film Collection [Blu-ray] [2011] [Region Free], which I would recommend because it has all 8 Harry Potter movies (Years 1 - 7 Part 2), and it will never go out of date, because there will be no more Harry Potter movies.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dodgy - incorrect disc!! 16 Jun 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Disc 3 was Polar Express - not Harry Potter! I did not view the others in the set but I am very disappointed as I had assumed I was buying a genuine product and not some counterfeit rubbish. Not acceptable from Amazon and to add insult to injury for some reason I am unable to get a refund - and only an exchange. I wait to see if this too is a bootlegged version of a different film.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wrong DVD in Disc 3 3 Sep 2011
By Caffs
Very disappointed. I ordered this so I could catch up on Harry Potter. Settled down to watch Part 3, only to find it contained Polar Express, not Harry Potter as printed on the DVD face.

Sent that back, ordering a replacement, only to find that too has Polar Express as Part 3. Sadly, requested a refund.

Obviously, a problem on that particular batch run, but very disappointing. Will now look for alternatives.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just toss the box! 18 July 2011
Like most of the negative commenters, I was initially upset that there was yet another box "set" released before all of the movies had been released. However, given the amazingly low price of this deal, I'm over it. Yes, it would be nice to have all 8 movies in a box, but I'm sure that set will cost significantly more money. My plan is to buy this set and...throw away the box. Once the last movie is out, I'll buy that one and place it next the the previous 7 discs on my shelf. No one will realize that they were bought in 2 batches. It's pretty rare that I'd be carting aroudn all 8 discs at once anyway. Problem solved.

5.0 out of 5 stars There DVD's 20 July 2011
I have been a Harry Potter fan since I was young and watched 1, 2 & 3 religiously but failed to see all the films, I have seen bits of some here and there but then got busy and not had time to go back. I thought this box set was the perfect set for me and my nieces and nephews to watch, and at a fantastic price also. Great value for money and the cheapest I have found ever this box set, definitely worth a buy!

As for everyone kicking up a fuss about yet another Harry Potter box set there are only 3 words - GET OVER IT! They are only DVD's at the end of the day and if it bothers you that mush just be patient and wait for the final box set to come out before you buy any of them! It is no where near a crisis of any sort if they don;t all line up perfectly and look exactly the same, for the majority of people DVD's are in a cupboard, unit or in my case lying on top of my DVD player. And I very mush doubt anyone would really bother that much if they seen that you had different box set's or some box set's and some individual DVD's.

In my case I will be buying the single DVD of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 when it is released and not caring if it matches my box set of films 1 -7!

And if you have bought different box set's and individual DVD's already since you couldn't wait for the final one, why don't you just buy a nice box that they all can fit in together, then you wouldn't have to look at them all mismatched and be so annoyed about something so insignificant!
