3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fun, but massive plot holes. 8 July 2009
Platform for Display:Nintendo DS
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Upon starting this game I was very sceptical about its contents and how they can release a game weeks before the years biggest film without giving away the story to the average public. If you have read the books and know the story already, this game is very enjoyable and the plot holes will not prove a problem.
However if you only watch the films and have not read this book, the game will leave you very confused and disappointed. It follows the story of the books, but only very briefly and misses out key items about the plot, making it near impossible to understand the game without prior knowledge of the story. The game is reasonably long for many games of this genre, but still only takes 15-20hours for full completion and has little replay value.
I would suggest it is a very worthwhile game for 8-15 year olds who are already very interested in the Harry Potter franchise. Even with these problems in the game, the gameplay is excellent and I personally as a big fan of Harry Potter thoroughly enjoyed this game and it kept me glued to my DS.

4.0 out of 5 stars Harry Potter HBP DS game 10 Aug. 2009
Platform for Display:Nintendo DS
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Really like the improved graphics of this game to previous ones. Great fun and great involvement. Currently stuck on the quidditch match with slytherin. Bit annoying whn you get stuck as you can't carry on but have to keep repeating the same bit. Same with a lot of these sort of games I guess. A very good game though, it even had my cousin obsessed and she isnt that fussed on Harry or computer games.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't talk to me about Quidditch... 1 Aug. 2010

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Much of the game is walking around Hogwarts, finding objects and swapping them for other objects, such as swapping wizard cards for gobstones, then gobstones for Ginny's game, then taking the game to Ginny. There's also potion making, which is fun, and mini-games of exploding snap, gobstones and wizard skittles, all great fun too. The graphics are fantastic, very clear and detailed, and this makes the wandering around looking for various things very enjoyable. As you progress, more of Hogwarts opens up to you and you can explore further, so there's always something new coming up to look forward to as previously off limits doorways open up to reveal other parts of the castle. What really spoils it is the Quidditch, it's just too hard,it moves too fast and the the touch screen doesn't quite seem to respond fast enough to catch the snitch, and it gets really frustrating because you can't progress until you win the game... Games need to be challenging but they're still meant to be fun, right? The Quidditch lets down a game that's otherwise quite good fun, very engaging and atmospheric.

5.0 out of 5 stars Harry who? 1 July 2010

My 10 year old loves this game. I would like to let you know how good it is but he hasn't really spoken to me since he got it and prefers to sit immersed in the game and simply grunts when I try to discover more.

3.0 out of 5 stars HP6 Nintendo DS - Disappointed 9 Feb. 2013

Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
At first I couldn't wait to play this game as I am a massive Harry Potter fan. Sadly I was so disappointed to the point where I feel like selling it without having finished the game.

This game mainly exists of running around the castle to collect or trade items for other items. You need to play certain games like Exploding Snap over and over again as they win you the items you need. The games themselves would be fun if it wasn't for the numerous times you had to play them in order to complete a task.

Navigating:
Also, navigating your way through the castle is very difficult. I've never had any problems finding my way in the previous games, but this 'castle' doesn't make any sense. You can only look at maps of your current location which doesn't make it easier. The only way to get to the right place is by using a sort of 'help' option, and then you need to follow this arrow around until you get to the right place.

Potions, spells, duels and Quidditch:
Making potions I found very fun to do, but I think the potion making in the 5th game was better and more fun. I REALLY REALLY was NOT impressed by the duelling or the spells. There are a few spells that are very easy to cast. You just need to tap an item for one spell, or just drag your stylus from the item to Harry for another spell (Accio). There is no figure you need to draw like in previous games. It's the same in the duels. You need to tap on one side of your screen to cast a spell and on the other side of the screen to defend yourself! It was too easy and boring. Quidditch on the other hand was very difficult; it's all about being lucky if you want to win a match.

Graphics, Plot and Music:
On the plus side, the graphics are great! Very realistic.

3.0 out of 5 stars Level Complete 30 Aug. 2009
Platform for Display:Nintendo DS
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
It is a really fun game but some people could complete it within a week. I went on holiday for two weeks and I finished it by the first week. But apart from that it was really fun completing the levels and stuff!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not very magical 4 Aug. 2009
Platform for Display:Nintendo DS
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
This should have been wonderful and magical, but it just wasn't. Still, I enjoyed walking around and talking to people - I like that kind of game - making potions, casting spells and playing some of the games. Quidditch and Exloding Snap were frustrating though. And then suddenly, we've whizzed through some storyline and the game ends, just like that. A let down and an anti-climax. I suppose it's good that it left me wanting more! (Isabelle)
