Product Description

Southbury, England...sometime in the 1930s

When human remains are found on a building site there is sufficient evidence to determine that the deceased was murdered and that the victim’s name was Graham Farmer, who had been reported missing some twenty years before. Graham’s father, Edward, hires Southbury’s most infamous PI, Harry Banner, to find out what happened to his son. Harry had been having a lean time of it with just the odd cheap mundane case to work on. He had even been playing his beloved Lafayette trumpet in the band at The Blue Bay to earn some extra cash. He took the case despite a cold trail and only tentative leads….. but it would seem that someone was still prepared to go to great lengths to hide the truth.

Steve is also the author of the 'Jodie & Lilly' series (children's books) under the name of S J Horsfall.A new (4th) Jodie & Lilly adventure was published on 3rd March 2014 - Jodie & Lilly...and the Talent Show.

Steve is currently writing a series of short stories, set in a fictional 1930s British town and as a homage in style to the tales of Sam Spade, Phillip Marlowe and Mike Hammer. The first 2 Books in the series, Harry Banner in...Notice To Die & Harry Banner in...Here and Then Gone are both available on Kindle and in Paperback.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fast paced thriller 31 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the second Harry Banner outing and all credit to the author who has produced the impossible, by making this book even better than the original.

1930's trumpet playing detective Banner, is hired to hunt down the murderer of a wealthy man's estranged son, but the murder dates back over twenty years. But there is far more to the case than his client at first discloses. To add to this, Harry has the local organised on his case when his prime suspect has them at his beck and call.

But in a great twist Harry unmasks the killer and turns the tables on a vicious killer.

A great read. I look forward to Harry's continuing adventures.
