Product Description

Off-beat drama about two brothers who share a particularly intense love for each other. 3.0 out of 5 stars Strangely Erotic 15 Mar 2006
By A Customer
Format:DVD
I saw this film in the theater, and despite the negative reviews, I wound up enjoying it immensely. While this film is clearly not for everyone, exploring as it does the subject of gay incest. I would not even say that it was particularly well made, but it was certainly a cinematic journey that we have not been on before. The chemistry between the two leads was strong, and I think that overcame the overall amatuer feel of the production. If the test of a decent film is whether you'd sit through it twice, I would say this is a worthwile investment.

4.0 out of 5 stars intresting and engaging 21 Nov 2007
Format:DVD
I picked up on this film browsing Amazon and took a chance. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a small production but I think it's all the better without the gloss, the intimate feel is appropriate to the topics examined. The themes explored are of how brotherly love and dependence have spilled over into incest between the brothers in question. The lead actors are great in their roles handling great deals of dialogue expressively and naturally; the actors also have great chemistry as brothers, and sexually. The sexual themes are well handled and the incest itself is oddly affecting for being presented sweetly and as mostly normalised between the two.
The dynamic of their relationship is explored over a short period of time - and does seem to veer quite wildly over this brief time; but still works well I feel for the most part. The support actors are also excellent.
The film isn't perfect, the dialogue sometimes seems disconnected as though lines are missing or the reactions are a little 'off', but overall I think it's well worth a watch. Interesting, brave and certainly like nothing else I've seen.

The talk track, deleted scenes and behind the scenes are also all good; expecially the talk track.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 30 Jun 2011

Format:DVD
A liberated, honest movie about desire and familial bonds. Harry and Max are two brothers who are pop singers in the teeny bopper pop world...Harry however has seen better days and Max is the new young superstar. The movie becomes a testament to the two brothers relationship-emotional and sexual as well as Harry's struggling to cope with his younger brother's success. Free of puritanism, the movie is succinctly directed (the viewer has to do some work for themselves) and superbly acted by the two leads, this is a wonderful, invigorating and ultimately moving work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Harry And Max 10 Mar 2011

The idea behind this is a good one. Problem is the movie itself comes across as a bit unrealistic. The overall execution is very light-weight.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rambling and inane 23 Feb 2008
By SamMc.
Format:DVD
This is a rather rambling little film, with no dramatic thrust and there is a decided lack of conviction. There are some ponderous speeches, especially from Harry - and plot devices that feel decidedly clunky in order to move the story on. None of the issues is explored; none of the drama inherent in the focal issue comes through. The young guy playing Max does his best but towards the end even he seems to realise there is nothing he can do now except get to the end credits.

1.0 out of 5 stars Implausible and Dull 12 Nov 2007
Format:DVD
Did I miss the point of this film? Is it an examination of incest, of coming out, of gay sex or merely of sibling rivalry? The film finished with a dozen unanswered questions and I found it very disappointing, despite the positive review it received.
Had the film managed to examine how/why an incestuous relationship had developed between these 2 brothers, then the film might have worked to some degree. As it is, little background is given to past events, and the 2 brothers change their minds regarding their feelings for one another almost on a scene-to-scene basis. The end result for me was that it was just another gay film, but without the obligatory sex scene or any sort of satisfactory ending. The 2 actors playing the brothers did their best, but they could not look more different physically. This, as well as the implausible storyline, made it extremely difficult to believe that they were related as claimed, which surely defeated the entire object of the film?
The film's content is controversial and you might anticipate it as being uncomfortable to watch. However be warned that it falls very short of any expectations you might have.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yikes 2 Mar 2008
Format:DVD
My, my, my. This is one bizarre movie. Strange acting, terrible dialogue, and a very uncomfortable and unbelievable theme. It is perhaps possible to approach the subject of incest with - dare i say - "sensitivity", but this is a colossal failure. Save yourself and avoid this film.
