About the Author

Terry Harrison became interested in art early on, attending Art School at the age of sixteen. His studies led to a career in graphics, then he became an illustrator, developing his own painting style and perfecting his techniques during evenings and weekends. Demand grew for his paintings and he soon gave up his 'day job' to paint full time. Now he is kept constantly busy with a full schedule of exhibitions, private commissions, demonstrations and painting holidays. His fine art prints are sold in shops and galleries everywhere.

Format: Paperback
As a newby to painting, especially watercolour, I look for information, guidelines, techniques. I know what I like to look at in terms of watercolour art, and want to paint in that style, so, like many before me I take a chance and buy a book. Not all have proved to have been truly worth the money.
This publication, for me, has inspired within me ideas of my own, made me realise that as far as techniques go. there are no limits. Creating stones on bridges, walls, texture on tree trunks, rocks in a stream or laying on grass.
Mountains, hills and valley's. Water, grass and trees. This book is not a 'do as I do' volume, for me it is my first real start on the road to developing my own style, experimenting with ideas, I feel less intimidated and afraid of that blank sheet of beautifully crafted textured paper.
I would like others like me to have this feeling of liberation, so if you are looking for that elusive 'something', this book could just be what you are looking for. It will be some time before I need to buy any more books on watercolour, this one is my catalyst on the road to developing my own style, and cannot wait to get back to putting paint on paper.

This is a very informative book, put in a plain simple understandable style by an accomplished artist, who is good at teaching, especially beginers. If you want to learn to paint, you can't go wrong with Terry's tuition.

this book is one of a set of three from terry, the pictures alone are worth the price.the demonstrations are all done with the £80 set of wonder brushes.the only brush i bought was the small fan stippler and this is a great piece of kit for trees.all else can be done with what ever the beginner already has.great book to get thing started
also mix your own greens etc,its not difficult.

I brought this book expecting it to give clear step by step instructions whereas it is more about offering tips and suggestions. It does show the method used but not in a clear step by step form. The author seems to have forgotten what it is like to be a beginner. If you are a beginner and looking for step by step guidance choose Frank Clarke's Frank Clarke's Paint Box orFrank Clarke's Paintbox 2

It is a good teaching book, you can follow the tips quite easily but you would get better results if you had his brushes.
