Quite by chance I picked up this book and read it to myself but I instantly wished I had a child to read it aloud to!
Mem Fox's lilting words with reassuring repetitions coupled with Marla Frazee's amazingly calm illustrations make it a book to treasure.
Harriet is not a naughty little girl, she just manages to get herself into lots of trouble. Harriet's mother seems to have never-ending patience and understanding. Even when Mum finally loses her temper, the end of the book is a positive reminder that a mother's love can endure a multitude of annoyances and still both mother and child can emerge triumphant.
This is a great book for curling up with a young child and reading it again and again.
