Product Description

Revising her classic 1989 book Harps and Harpists, Roslyn Rensch expands her authoritative history of this timeless instrument. This lavishly illustrated edition, with 137 black-and-white images and 24 color plates, surveys the progress of the harp from antiquity to the present day. The new edition includes two new chapters; an extensive bibliography and index; personal anecdotes of the author's studies under Alberto Salvi; an appendix on the Roslyn Rensch Papers and Harp Collection, which are housed at the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign; and an hour-long CD of harp music.

excellent! 22 Feb 2009
By Cortney Davis - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
My grandchild is studying the harp, seriously, now composing her own pieces and winning competitions. This book was her favorite gift last Christmas. It's comprehensive and beautifully presented. If you have a budding harpist in your family, this is an excellent gift, offering both information and incentive. If you simply love harp music, this book will enhance your understanding of this instrument and its history.

I AM FORTUNATE TO KNOW DR. RENSCH PERSONALLY AND I CONSIDER OUR FRIENDSHIP AN HONOR.

HARPS AND HARPISTS, REVISED IS A WONDERFUL COLLECTION OF INFORMATION, PICTURES, HISTORY AND ALL THINGS HARP.

HARPS AND HARPISTS HAS BEEN THE LIFE STUDY AND JOY OF ROSLYN RENSCH.

WE CAN ACQUIRE THIS KNOWLEDGE AND INSIGHT INTO THE WORLD AND HISTORY OF THE HARP. WE CAN LEARN FROM DR. RENSCH'S 80 PLUS YEARS AS A LADY DEDICATED TO THE HARP.

BY PURCHASING THIS BOOK, YOU WILL BE IMMERSED IN THE WORLD OF THE HARP AND THE BEAUTY OF THAT INSTRUMENT.

A VERY NICE PLACE TO BE.

THE HARP IS UNIVERSAL, HISTORICAL AND WILL CONTINUE TO THRIVE.

AS ROSLYN SAYS...PLAY ON.

ENJOY.

Just as hoped for 14 April 2010
By Deborah C. Roberts - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
As a beginning harpist, I am anxious to learn more about anything to do with the instrument.

The book is rich in historical content and lovely pictures. The included CD is an added pleasure as well.

Worth your money.
