I purchased this book many years ago to go with my copy of Volume 1. Unfortunately I was silly enough to lend them to someone who never returned them to me. When I saw them for sale I couldn't believe it and immediately bought them again.
The instructions are wonderfully simple, the abbreviations are the Enlish version (most knitting books are American whose abbreviations I find a bit too complicated and long winded). I like to design my own knitwear and the pictures are very clear and make it easy to envisage the finished item, we all need a bit of inspiration at times don't we? It's a book that is brilliant for a beginner or advanced knitter,
The book is unfortunately out of print now but if you ever see a copy sold I would have no hesitation in recommending you purchase it (even 2nd hand as this was). It's been like welcoming an old friend back into my life.

This book has a wide variety of stitches and allows you to work out how to fit them into a garment so that you can build up your own unique pattern.

Good guide books

The harmony series are the best when it comes to knitting stitches. They are easy to read, have nice crisp photographs, good instructions and a great variety of stitches easily arranged. I found that volume 1 has nicer stitches than volume 2, but it is still worth it.
