Product Description

Product Description

Bestselling author, Judith Wilson takes you to the heart of fuss-free living. Imagine a home that has light switches in just the right places, and storage that really works; with a colour palette that looks as good in the kitchen as in the bedroom, and rooms that are configured to match your lifestyle. Part 1 of the book, Thoughts and Plans, is devoted to first ideas, including setting a budget. Part 2, Bare Essentials, sorts the practicalities such as heating and communications. Part 3, Space Specifics, looks at space configurations from small rooms to open-plan zones, proving that it's not square metres that count, but how you use them. Each section ends with a case study of a real home that exemplifies Judith's ideas. With useful checklists and inspirational photographs of soothing, cohesive interiors, Harmonious Home proves how, with great planning, easy living is achievable.

good enough 10 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a nice book with at least one inspirational interior. More focused on appearances than functionality, (her book on Family Living is more practical if you have kids). Quite a few of the photos, or at least houses, are also in Ros Byan Shaws book Old House New Home (same publisher) so I am knocking off a star as I feel a bit short-changed. Just read an article in Elle Decoration magazine which announces that the cream-on-cream subtlety and moody grey interiors (as pushed by the current crop of decorating books, including J.W) is old hat. It will be interesting to see if these books end up looking as dated as the books on 70's and 80's style interiors that you still find in libraries today.

Perfect! 10 Jan 2010

I love this book. I think it is laid out in a lovely flowing way, whether you want to just flick through the pictures or read the book and take it all in, its just right. It encourages you to think about things with your own space in mind, the pictures just illistrate how possible it is to achieve this look.

I bought this book ahead of doing an interior design course at the KLC, where the author lectures and I really find it inspiring already.
Like I said though, even if i wasn't doing this course, the book is great for some inspiration.

This book is fantastic! It provides a great basis for which to make your own decisions about decorating or interior design. There's no "copy this look" kind of stuff - just straightforward advice that would suit any home or style. Nice pictures, but even better is that each picture comes with an explanation. Highly recommended.
