Product Description

Product Description

Harley-Davidson's Softail line is one of Harley's best-selling series, and in fact is one of the most popular large-displacement motorcycle series in the world. No question, the Softail defines the cruiser genre, the best-selling segment in the U.S. motorcycle market. Combine the bikes' popularity, their beautiful design, and the relative few books on the subject, and Harley-Davidson Softail is the perfect choice for Harley enthusiasts. This Softail bible discusses the story behind the original Softail chassis, built and marketed by Bill Davis before being purchased by Harley, and continues by focusing on the various Softail models, such as the Heritage, Springer, Fat Boy, and the latest Softail series, which uses the innovative dual counterbalanced Twin Cam 88B engine.

A good read 29 April 2010
Format:Paperback
Bought this on Amazon as it was cheaper than Ebay. Just gone back to biking after 35 years and bought a Harley-Davidson FatBoy. This book is a history of all the Harley Softails from the original and including the FatBoy. A good read for any Harley-Davidson enthusiast and I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book so much that I have started reading it again. It is written in "American Engish" and took me a few seconds to realise that some words mean different things like pavement meaning road surface in the USA. But still a great book.

Nice Book! 3 Jan 2006
By Eric - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
If you're into knowing about the Softail and its history, then this is your book.

Describing the history of the invention of the "softail" by Bill Davis (and how he hardly made any money out of it...)and furthermore the models that Harley built around this principle with nice photos up to 2003.

Not describing serialnumbers, colours and modelyear-differences, but for general softail-info a very nice book!
