Absolute Genius 17 Sep 2011
Format:Audio CD
There are albums that slipped under the radar, and then there are albums that just got totally lost. This got lost. Difficult to understand why as this is a slice of southern country soul that deserves a place in anyones record collection. The fact that its been re issued properly (no annoying bonus cuts or out takes that should have remained out takes) just adds to its mystique.
The soul and passion drips off this album, the playing is fantastic, featuring some of the top session men of the day ( James Burton for one) this album screams of a life lived in and through the songs.
Jim Ford may not be a name that crops up in many musical conversations but this re release should set the record straight. I could go on and wax lyrical about this album for pages, but I won't. Do yourself a favour, just buy this album, its quite simply one of the best records ever made. You won't regret it!

Country Funky 9 Nov 2011
By Dr.O
Format:Audio CD
What can I say? This is probably my all time favourite album. It just pips Stcky Fingers by the Stones. It's just incredible. It has a raw, earthy, scratchy sound and is born out of the dirt! The title track is a masterclass. It is such a clever song and so dam funky. there are tender moments too. Jim ford's voice has such power. moving from a scream to a sigh in a single breath. The man himself called his music Country/funky. Sly Stone called him the baddest whiteman and Nick Lowe idolises him to this day. Every track here is a killer and you'll play this album over and over again...Think Tony Joe White with more grit... Bobby Charles with more funk...Elvis in Memphis with more fire!! absolute quality!

A wonderful album 12 Mar 2012
Format:Audio CD
If ever an album just epitomizes an era & area of music then this must be right up there with the best. It takes you back to the early 70's Southern Rock, but tinged with a big New Orleans twist. I felt my whole spirit transcend all the day to day garbage back to a moment in time - surely what music is all about. The production levels are nothing short of fantastic, sometimes feeling as if there may be one too many things going on, but then again it all just works perfectly. I recently went on a road trip and found myself playing this more than once.

As another reviewer mentioned this was one of those albums that slipped under the radar, but I am so happy it has now came into my possession. I urge you to enjoy this album
