Book Description

22 Jun 2012 Harker
When a series of gruesome cult killings take place near the British Museum, DCI Harker and his assistant DS Critchley are called to London to solve the case. Middle class satanists, dusty old bookshops, a labyrinth under the museum, a frantic car chase and wry, cutting humour all combine in this graphic novel love letter from creators Roger Gibson and Vince Danks to classic British detective television series.

Review

This book I would highly recommend it has action, mystery and good characterisation --Comicbits

There s a greater depth to this creation in terms of characterisation, personality traits and individualistic quirks than any overt lampooning of the genre could afford. --Broken Froniter

If you like detective stories, noir, or modern Sherlock-like tales, this is for you. It will also appeal to those with a passion for similar crime meets supernatural comic titles such as Hellblazer. --Books and Writers

"This is just a perfectly done bit of genre goodness, a classic example of how mainstream comics should be... clever, thrilling, beautiful, funny; pretty much everything I want from a perfectly done genre piece." --Forbidden Planet

"A well packaged book which skirts the edge of reality and fantasy, not letting on which side it will fall until the plot takes you there." --Geek Syndicate

"A great read and a must buy for anyone who is interested in detective stories." --Geeklore

"In terms of visuals, Solomon is one of the strongest books I ve seen this year, and those who read comics mostly for the art would do well to pick it up." --Unleash the Fanboy

"Passarella s book is slickly written...and quite the page-turner. It s like an episode of the TV show, except with a bigger budget: one can easily imagine it being used for the treatment for a big screen effort since it contains a lot of mass disaster movie mayhem one would expect of a Hollywood blockbuster." --SciFi Movie Hype

"Reading the two main characters feels like watching a crossover between Robert Downey Jr. s version of Sherlock Holmes and Christopher Eccleston s take on Doctor Who. The story is reminiscent of X-Files or Supernatural (for you young ones) episodes." --Dallas News Pop Culture Blog

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read! 12 Mar 2013
Format:Hardcover
I'm not really a graphic novel reader so when someone suggested Harker to me I was skeptical. I was not only pleasantly surprised, I was engrossed, humored and entertained. The artwork is realistic but not overly so to be mundane. I get a great sense of emotion from simple clean lines. The architectural drawings of London are beautiful and for those alone I would buy the book. The scripting nods to old-style TV detective shows and displays a banter usually reserved for on air sequences. I particularly love the pub scene. Harker, the grumpy senior detective, and Critchley, the playboy rookie, work together to solve a seemingly dark and demonic murder. They process the crime scene even though Harker is squeamish around dead bodies (a nice quirky trait for a detective) and follow the leads through a journey of lies, deception and secrets. The culmination of their work is a harrowing chase beneath the London streets and... well, I won't give away the ending. If you want something different and love old detective shows like I do, it's definitely worth a read.

Harker is amazing, I have it in comic book form and was Absolutly blown away. Each one I finished I had to read the next one straight after.
Tried to order the hardback but unfortunately I'm too impatient to wait another week or two. Everywhere else is selling them for £14 so awesome value here at £7
